I've been using 2.7.0.49. Is that the same as the 'beta?'

I'm been using it for a day or so. I like how it is integrated with the Address Book (finally!). Seems to be working fine.
And Cold Warrior, if you notice in the title bar it says BETA.

How do you get address book to store skype names and pass them to skype?

I don't think you can, because Address Book does not let you choose Skype as an account type when entering someone's IM name. The main point of the address book integration (I think) is to allow you to dial the regular telephone numbers of people who are in your address book without having to copy and paste them.

OK. Not as useful to me as I thought then.

Indeed. I just clicked 'get info' on its icon. I wonder how long it'll remain in beta. But overall the app runs very well. Better than iChat for voice or video chats.
