I have a lovely new ipod nano, I want coverflow to show individual albums.

The problem is some albums are showing up more than once, when I flip it around to show the tracks, they all show all the tracks on the album.

The biggest problem is my "rolling stone 500 best songs" album, (marked in iTunes as a compilation album and as one disk) shows up around 15 times in coverflow.

I only want each album cover to show up once.

Any ideas?

I think your only choice is to go in and retag the offending songs. I hate it when iTunes puts a bunch of different artists (like "Main artist with duet artist #1" "Main artist with duet artist #2") when really they should just be the album artist. So I generally retag all of them to be the same artist, and if necessary put the duet artist information somewhere else, like after the song title.

Is there a simpler way, if its tagged as a compilation album it should show as one album cover not 15.

I don't think I can individually edit 500 tracks without causing some serious damage to my already fragile mind.

Any other ideas?

Huh? If you just tell iTunes that the album artist is "main artist", that's what the album will show up as in CoverFlow and be sorted under in the regular list...?

I've had a funny bug occasionally where iTunes will split a single album by a single artist into several albums, showing up several time in CoverFlow - the first cover will have tracks 2 and 14, the second 1, 3-12, and the third 13, or so. Sounds exactly like the OP's problem, except I'm seeing it in iTunes as well.

I've had varying degrees of success with re-labeling the songs with the artist name and/or album artist name, and then changing the sorting to something else and back again.

You know you can change all 500 tracks in one go!!

Select them all in iTunes and then do 'Get Info' from the file menu, any change you make will apply to all the tracks.

I know how to batch change, but how do I batch move all track names to the another field.

Yes, how do you do that?

If you toggle it on does the behaviour follow over to Coverflow on the new iPods?

Doug's iTunes Applescripts has a script called "Swap this with that". Google Doug's applescripts.

You select all the tracks, get info, and enter "Rolling Stones" for album artist.

I have no idea whether this fixes your iPod.
