My daughter needs to find software that will take her digital photos and create slide shows. She needs to be able to add sound and do some minor special effects (image morphing from one to the next, etc...). She needs it for some college projects and work. The problem is that her budget (my budget also) is $100 max. Commercial, shareware, freeware or open source are all okay as long as the chosen software meets her needs.

I am not very knowledgeable about this type of work, and I hope there are a few of you that are. She is using a Macbook purchased new in September. I asked her if iMovie was capable of doing what she needed and received a "no" for an answer.

So, any suggestions? We appreciate your help.
Thanks.

I don't know about morphing because I haven't tried it, but iDVD will let you create a slide show with transitions, music, titles, the works.

Check out Photo to Movie. Creates very nice slide shows with lots of options including sound.

Indeed. I'm curious why "no" was her answer.

If sound is the problem with iMovie, the trick is to get the entire slideshow done in iMovie 08, and then build the soundtrack with all the detail you want in GarageBand.

Not sure. Maybe she hasn't figured it out yet. I mentioned that she is using a new Macbook purchased in September. I guess I assumed that you all realized that it is her FIRST Mac.

I will be sending her links to these posts for her to review (and also to urge her to become a member). I think she needs to "play" with iMovie a little more before we go further.

I do thank all of you for your input.
