I'm trying to get VPC 5 running under Panther. There is rumor that it can be done with the 5.04 update and judicious repairing of permissions. However MS doesn't offer the 5.04 updater download, and Connectix is no more.

Does anyone have a copy of the 5.04 updater they could forward to me?

Many many thanks!

Doesn't it suck what Connectix and Microsoft did closing down all of the previous updates from the net? I needed this update the other day and managed to find it. I've posted it to my .Mac public folder:

and yes, this is a very shoddy way to do business on Microsoft's part, to not make available a previously published updater.

This project is cursed. The disk image you nicely provided will not mount. I get the error message: "Reason: not recognized" I'm assuming this is some kind of checksumming error but will do further research. A strange thing is that the binhex version is 13 megs, the extracted file is only 10 megs, and your idisk reports it as 10 megs.

Any chance you could re-post it or e-mail a copy to me?

Thanks again!
