While looking through some old CDs recently, I came across my original Carmageddon CD. I really liked the game when it was first released. I tried installing it on my new iMac and it refused to launch.

Has anyone successfully got this game runing in Classic mode since my new computer won't boot into 9?

If not, does anyone know of a replacement game with similar gameplay that works under Panther?

I haven't tried Carmageddon in classic yet, I will have to try and find the CD but I know that Carmageddon II works in classic mode.

This game sounds interesting... anywhere I can still download a demo of the second version, which does run in classic?

I see the first Carmageddon demo at MacGameFiles, but not the second one.

Carmageddon is playable, 100%, when using some QUickdraw (I think) plugin. Try do a search for Carmageddon on Xlr8yourmac.com, they have a few nice articles on that game!

We all mourn the loss of Carmageddon II. (Though it's easy to boot up in OS 9 to play it if you still have that capability.)

does anyone know if the non-zombie patch is still available ? I just bought a copy from Mac Gold to replace my long mising US CD and it turned out to be the censored UK version

Versiontracker seems to show the demo, but no patches.

Will play in Classic well with the MacGlide extension in your Extensions folder, and a new version just came out!
http://sourceforge.net/projects/macglide/

Just remember to use the 3DFX version of Carmageddon, and away you go.
