IE 5.0 won't launch

I've tried on several occasions to load Explorer 5.0 on my Mac running OS 8.6. Everytime I try to open the application it starts to open, shows the Explorer 5 opening window..... then disappears. I've also tried and had the same failure on an iMac running OS 9.0.4.
Both Macs work fine with Explorer 4.5 and Outlook 5.
Anybody help?

In order for someone to help you with your problem, you have to tell us what troubleshooting you have done......Have you increased memory for the IE application.....Also try this.....
Navigate.......HD>>System folder>>Preference.... and place the following in the trash....Restart and then open/launch IE....This will cause Microsoft Internet First Run to function and it will install fresh copies of the four extension that was placed in the trash earlier.... Hopefully it will solve your problem....

Yes I've tried increasing memory to the application but that makes no diference. Not sure what other trouble shooting I can do ... I've loked on the Microsoft web site but no signs of anyone having this problem.
Any suggestions welcome.

Delete all traces of your current IE installation and re-install.

I had A problem when I installed OE 5.0.3 which was solved by a rebuild of the database..............Press OPTION as you open IE and from the dialog box that appears....
Select NO to Compact Database..........
Select YES to Rebuild Database
