It is common for plastics to crack under direct sunlight, that could be the problem.

Huh, this is wierd. Maybe you could contact Apple if it is still under warrenty, but I don't think they would do anything about it. I hate having my Mac look imperfect, it must be frustrating.

I miss the days of the G5 and XPS Pentium 4 running side by side as high-end machines.

Actually mine arrived with alot of scratch marks on the clear plastic casing. I guess I should call and complain... it's really distracting when light hits it.

Mine did too, but since I had to move a few months after I got it, I figured it would just get scratched anyway.

I dunno if mine has cracks or not. I don't spend much time looking at the BACK of it. I dust it off everyonce in a while, but other than that, I look at the screen.

There's another thread about cracks in the back. Didn't mean to sound harsh in my last post.
I don't think it was decided if they were cracks, or just part of the manufactuering process. As long as your machine is running great, I wouldn't worry about it. But if you are worried, call applecare and see what they say about it.
I can't really tell from your pictures if it's a crack or not. Looks more like a scuff to me.
