WHAT CAN I DO TO GET A FULL SIGNAL USING AN AIRPORT EXTREME AND A 17' POWERBOOK.

I AM SITTING ABOUT 3 FEET AWAY FROM THE BASE STATION, AND IT ONLY IS GRAYED OUT TO THE 'M' IN MENU, WHEN YOU CLICK OPEN INTERNET CONNECTION.

I DO NOT HAVE IT ENCRYPTED, ITS ON CHAN 11.

WHAT CAN I DO ?

THANK YOU , AND GOOD DAY

YOU ARE WELL ON YOUR WAY TO INCREASING RECEPTION. YOU HAVE ALREADY TAKEN THE FIRST STEP BY USING ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. TO BOOST SIGNAL STRENGTH MORE, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU ALSO USE BOLD AND PERHAPS AN INCREASED FONT SIZE. THIS WILL CERTAINLY HELP TO CUT OUT ANY INTERFERENCE YOU MAY BE EXPERIENCING.

I HOPE THIS INFORMATION PROVES TO BE USEFUL TO YOU.

Change the channel it is using? I have mine on channel 6.

Why should you do this? You may have another device that is causing interference.

also, you can try changing the channel to something lower.
try "1" and work your way up.

do you have a 2.4GHz portable phone that may be interfering?

You should try unplugging (and taking the battery out of) your 2.4 GHZ fone. See if that works. Also, in case I missed it-- did you mention what kind of WAP you are using?
