Looks like he's finally gone. The article on espn doesn't say if he quit or was fired. While not a detroit lions fan, I could not help but wonder why he remained in charge for so long as he showed his ineptness extremely early on.
The funny thing is the fox sports announcers from whence he came kept sticking up for him, saying how tough he had it there and how unfair people had been. I'm curious to hear what they have to say now.

There should be a sports subforum.

On topic: it did seem loooong overdue.
Detroit hasn't been taken seriously for a very, very long time.

Joke forwarded to me today:
In case of a tornado, everyone in southeast michigan should report immediately to the lions endzone at ford field where there is almost 0 chance of a touchdown.

He's like the Wayne Fontes of this decade. The only difference is that Fontes always did enough to at least somewhat justify keeping his job.

Agreed, hopefully now detroit can actually move forward and start rebuilding/winning football games.

Agreed. Wait! No! Disagreed! I just got so caught up in the mob.
I'd rather play my least favorite sport than watch someone else play my most favorite.

I completely disagree. The great thing about the Lounge is that it isn't so segregated and specialized. It would suck if every different topic had its own forum.

Is it just, me or do 100% of beach volleyball players have a tramp stamp?
Also, the only sports news I'm interested in hearing is that the Mets will be playing a game at Shea that I can make it down to see sometime after I get back from the Midwest (next Tuesday).

I think about 99% of all women under 30 and over 20 have them nowadays.

Yeah, like if they made a separate section for gaming or something.

I like playing sports when they're for fun. When other guys decide to determine their importance in life based upon whether or not they dominate you physically while bragging about it and then adopting this grim "I'm so good I have to look angry" look during the next play...I get disinterested.
What's embarrassing is that I think I used to be one of those guys. And I have to admit...volleyball can be pretty fun.

if you knew who the guy was, you would have known it was sports and wouldn't click.
but since you didn't know who he was, why did you click then? seems like you wasted your own time.

The title wasn't "Sports related person Millen is fired." I don't know what to expect most of the time I click on the thread...

I guess you just answered your own question. The title was enticing. "Finally - Someguy is fired". Such a relief! I click expecting to see some a-hole businessman getting fired or at least some amusing story. Instead I get some local sports story which is completely uninteresting to most of the world.
If gaming gets relegated to its own forum, I say sports deserves to be in one too. Otherwise I'd say consolidate ALL non-Apple talk into one forum.

I've always been in favor of the latter. I can see the case for the Pol/War Lounge, but everything else non-Apple should be here.
Fixed.

Back to the Lions...
Don't knock Wayne Fontes. The Lions had their best season ever under him (12-4, 1991). However, they haven't won a championship since 1957 and have only been in the playoffs 9 times in 50 years, losing every game except 1 (1991, but then they lost the next game).
Detroiters are loyal, but enough is enough!
They're the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.

From what I've been reading, Millen is a personable nice guy, however the fact remains he was horrid in the front office. For a few years the man was stuck on drafting wide receivers when he didn't have a true quarterback to get the ball to them. Heck, most of the WRs he drafted hadn't panned out either.

If baseball is considered a sport, pretty much anything else should be as well.
As far as Millen is concerned, who cares about the Lions, the only team that counts in Detroit are the Red Wings.

That's because they're the only team in Detroit that isn't an embarrassment.

1-15 please.
I am going to the Lions - Colts game this year at Lucas Oil, and I'd like to at least have a reason for getting beaten up for not wearing Colts apparel.
