just saw this during the UNC game

Pontiac G8 vs Bmw 5 Series Commercial

i'll take the 5 series any day.
they forgot to mention, reliability handling, quality of materials, sound system, and most of all LOOKS the G8 is ugly and I imagine the interior is cheap.

I'd take the BMW any day. Period. I just rented a G6 on a recent work trip and hated it. The G8 can't be that different.

It is a retarded comparison, I'll give you that. But if I were a father of 3, growing tired of my aging wife and constantly dreaming of all the poon I have zero chance of scoring, I could see myself weighing the pros and cons of each vehicle. Thankfully I'm not in that position and can safely avoid both.

****, a 5 series for what, 60k, versus a 6.0L V-8 for about 33k? That's a no brainer.

ctt1wbw is right! FOR THE MONEY you can't touch it. The interiors are much better than most of you can imagine, isn't this Holden stuff?

also:
2009 Pontiac G8 GXP

..I'll take a black one with 6-speed manual TYVM
Styling can be argued for days, but can't argue with performance.

ALSO:

2008 Holden Coupe 60 Concept

Exactly. BMWs may be nice cars, but they're not that nice.

These are the same GM folks that brought us the GTO I believe... not a confidence builder IMHO in terms of reliability, but the GM's have been doing better in that department for a while now.

Bang for the buck, it's probably a fun ride, but comparing it to a 5 series is a joke.

Yes, this isn't a Pontiac, it's a Holden. And it has the same V-8 that's in the Holden-made GTO. That's one fineass car. Granted, I love BMW, but they are so pricey.

60k is peanuts for most people looking into this type of car. The BMW 5 is leaps and bounds ahead of anything made by GM (or for GM, for that matter).

If by "this kind of car," you're referring to a status symbol, then yes, 60k is peanuts. But if you're talking about a 4 door sports sedan, a wide variety of people would be in the market.

I'm also not sure why everyone's thinks this comparison is so awful. The cars are similar in body style, size, and power. Should they cost the same? Should their brand name have the same amount of prestige? If you want to blast the G8, feel free to throw down some real numbers instead of bias and speculation.

Automobile Magazine ran a feature with pitting the 550i vs the G8 GT. The GT is pretty darn close to the BMW as far as numbers go, except the G8 is a ton cheaper, as has been established earlier. A comparison between the two is not ridiculous at all. They are both large sports sedans, and they are both incredibly good at what they do. The G8 is much better value though if you can live without BMW "prestige" and maintenance bills. Futhermore, the fact that a modern Pontiac sedan can even compare to a BMW at all is pretty impressive.
