For just finger prints and skin oil, use a microfiber cloth with a tinsy bit of water. You can get them anywhere.

Why?

I can remember being warned about using rubbing alcohol on rubber, but this is new to me.

The way I do it too. Removes all finger prints and dust. Does no harm to the MB's surface. Cheap too.

Doesn't Apple or any other company make & sell
a solution-kit specifically for MacBook cleaning?

you're thinking of iKlear - it's good stuff but as greenamp says a slightly damp microfiber cloth does the trick as well.

It is a rubber PAINT. It can cause the paint to peal. I also understand that using alcohol on rubber can cause it to harden over time.

Use WATER and a cloth. I can't believe any fingerprint wouldn't come off with water.

Kleenex will break apart and leave fibers all over the MacBook.

FWIW, I bought a cleaning kit from iKlear and think the
stuff is great. Handles both the case and screen beautifully.

clean it once, then put an Invisible Shield on it:

Apple MacBook 13 inch invisible SHIELD | Apple MacBook 13 inch Skin | invisibleSHIELD

Or put a Speck case on the top at least.

What's wrong with just using water on a paper towel?

Because I use my black MacBook in a patient care environment, it has to be frequently disinfected. Amazingly, the disinfectant wipes Disinfectant Wipes also do an amazing job of cleaning off all finger print and oil stains AND reconditions the black rubber fusion tape strip back to full sticky friction. (I put strips of the fusion tape on the outer surfaces of the MacBook to improve grip and prevent slipping off stainless steel counters. With the fusion tape in place, I can secure carry the MacBook pinched between my thumb and forefinger. It makes an otherwise slippery MacBook easy to assuredly carry.

Back to cleaning. The process goes as...

1. Wipe the surfaces with a disinfectant wipe (while wearing gloves because direct skin contact with the disinfectnat is not good).

2. Allow the disinfectant to sit for several minutes.

3. Slightly dampen a paper hand towel and wipe the surfaces free of the disinfectant using a damp portion of the towel. Lightly wipe with a dry portion of the towel until Macbook is dry.

With the above regimen, my black MacBook stays very clean both in appearance and microbially.

- Use a soft cloth
- I used my old socks (since it is soft).
- Place some powder (Baby Johnson etc) on the socks slightly.
- Wipe the oily surface that's on the Macbook...
- Voila!!

The powder actually can actually remove the oily stains.
