Ok well...

I'd like to know if anyone could point me in the right direction to using Bittorents.
Maybe an explanation of what that is, how they work, etc.
Any efficient programs I should look for? Places to find these "torrents"?

Let me know please.

Thanks.

Alright, thanks for the help.

I got transmission... now I am supposed to go on Google and search for what exactly? The file I am looking for in a ".torrent" format or something??

Dude, no disrespect, but how about you google for "torrents for dummies" or "torrents beginners guide" and hit up some of the links.

Say you want Ice Age 2.

Search for "Ice Age 2.torrent" in Google.

Click on first hit.

Copy the "download file" link.

In Transmission go to open url (or Command+U) and paste the link.

As far as getting good torrents, you might wanna search for a torrent guide. Best way to learn is by doing, that's how I did it.

We have a rule against enabling piracy -- which is the realm it crosses into when people start mentioning movies.
