My dual G4 won't shutdown. The screen goes blank (just showing the desktop) and then nothing. I have top manually hold the power button down to turn it off.
Any Suggestions?

Have you SpeedTools installed maybe?, those utils install some weird items that prevents the normal shutdown be done. If you have SpeedTools installed look for these items inside the StartupItems folder
"QuickBackStartupItem" <-- guilty
"SpeedToolsDTStartupItem" <-- guilty
Look for the StartupItems folder inside the Library folder of your hard disk, not your User Library folder. Delete those two items, not the folder.

This is a known problem with the m-audio pci cards. It has since been fixed with a driver update. If you have one of their cards it is likely the culprit.
