I think Facebook's IPO would be hard to miss.

Not only no IPO, but there's no existing business model to suggest a strong income. The site is worth a lot because of exposure, but is it generating significant income?

They have to be making some money. Lord knows they kept showing me ad for herpes medication for like 6 months in college. Bastards.

Facebook charges about $50,000 + some decently large amount of money per impression for ad campaigns.

Unless you're going for a facebook flyer when it's $100 for 5000 impressions.

Yeah, but they offer much more advanced and productive advertising services than that.

At any rate, they definitely have some decent revenue streams.

Though if you and some friends can come up with around $250 million, they might let you buy a 1.5% stake in the company.

I'm still curious how Google is bringing in enough revenue to warrant $500+ share prices...

Revenue doesn't really have anything to do with share price at all.

As I recall, Google opened at something like $300/share. Things like Google's acquisition of YouTube and DoubleClick etc. give investors a lot to hope for.

Share price reflects long-term expectation and short-term sentiment.
