hi guys ...

newbie to music streaming here ... ermmm, trying to use Netwrok Beacon and my current update (version 4.7) of Apple iTunes to as streaming server ... how am i suppose to do to share my music over the internet (outside my LAN) ...

well, here's some settings i did :



this is in Network Beacon ... anything i did wrongly? anyway ... the folder did show up in iTunes ...



so, what should i do to allow others to stream music from my Mac? i really have no idea ...

Well, for starters I notice your IP address in the Network Beacon setup is your internal LAN IP when it should be your external IP.

Go to http://www.whatismyip.com/ and enter the IP address returned into the IP Address field in the Network Beacon setup.

changed the IP to the external one ... well, what should i do then? how do people stream music from my Mac? what should i give to them? really don't have any idea ... sorry if i'm asking some really stupid questions ...

I'm honestly not sure what URL you would need to give your friends. If they are running iTunes you could have them try-
Advanced -> Open Stream...
then enter your external IP address and see if that works.

I've never done this myself, so I really have no clue.

well, can i only share to friends using iTunes? i thought music streaming should be compatible with other players as well? anyway anyone with experince? do i need to give my friends a URL like rtsp://[my ip] ? thanks in advance!
