When I try to open a PDF in Preview, none of the text shows up. I’ve tried deleting Preview’s .plist file, logging in and out, and even repairing permissions. For some reason, it works just fine on the other accounts on this computer, but not on mine. Also, here’s what shows up in the Console every time I try to open a PDF:

It keeps mentioning bad fonts, but I’ve validated all of my fonts, and nothing bad showed up.

Any ideas?

Fonts exist in a lot of places - /System/Library, /Library, ~/Library and, my all-time favourite, the Fonts folder of your OS 9 System Folder. Have you checked ALL of those? Have you tried removing some fonts to see what happens? From your story, it's wither the ones in your home directory or the OS 9 fonts that are making trouble for you.

I don’t have an OS 9 folder, so that’s not an issue.

However, I seem to have inadvertently fixed the problem by, interestingly enough, closing and re-opening the Unit Converter and Calculator widgets. When I closed and opened the Unit Converter widget, preview worked once, then stopped working again; when I closed and opened the Unit Converter widget again, then the Calculator widget, Preview started working properly again, and now works fine. Really odd.
