Does it? I know the chipset does, but I'm wondering:
1) If a Core 2 Duo iMac will log onto a 802.11a network.
2) If an ad hoc network created with the Core 2 Duo iMac supports 802.11a.
P.S. Sorry. I wasn't sure if this was more an iMac question or a networking question. Please feel free to move if you think it should go in the networking section.

Do you mean 802.11a or 802.11n? The 802.11a support is on all Intel Macs, but the "hot new" news with the C2D iMacs is that the wireless chipset supports 802.11n (draft).
As far as I know you can only use either a or n under Windows; the drivers in OSX don't support either. However I recall that at some Apple conference they used 802.11a for their (semi-?)private wifi network.

Yeah, I meant 11 a. I wasn't sure if all iNtelMacs supported it, but I guess I do now.
Kinda moot for me though since there's no OS X support.
Oh well, I guess I'll just hope that when 802.11 n gets out of draft, Apple will issue an iMac 802.11n firmware update and start supporting it in Leopard.

Just wondering, is Apple wireless now on the chipset, ala Centrino, or is it still the seperate Airport Extreme card that I had in my old G4? Seems like it would be practical (and cheap) to just use the intel hardware.
I know I could just look at system profile but I'm at work on a windows computer.
