I always liked the movies of his books (except for The Sum of All Fears, Affleck is a bad Ryan IMHO).
Anyway, can anyone recommend a good Clancy novel ?
Maybe Ryan or Clark thriller ?
thx

I read (and liked!) all of the Jack Ryan Series.
Cardinal of the Kremlin
seems to stick out in my mind.

Red Storm Rising. Best Tom Clancy book ever. Read it three times. Highly recommend that one.

Red Storm Risning. Clancy's best book. Perhaps a little dated now.
Sum of All Fears. Good book but too long. Worth reading. Refused to see the movie.
Clear and Present Danger. Good read.
Hunt for Red October. Good enough.
Cardinal of the Kremlin. Must be forgettable, 'cuz I don't remember much about it.
Patriot Games. Feh. No, strike that. Double Feh. Use it to start a fire.
Started to read Debt of Honor, but decided it was time to take a break from right wing homophobe schills without military experience writing political thrillers. Still, I've enjoyed Clancy's books. Good for you for reading tho, not enough people do it any more.

Easy . . . Without Remorse.
Followed closely by Cardinal of the Kremblin and The Hunt for Red October.

Another vote for Cardinal of the Kremlin. Only one of his books I actually remember.

Clark is the hero in Without Remorse.
You may want to consider the audiobooks. Some of the early Clancy stuff is done pretty well.
My faves are Red October and Cardinal of the Kremlin. However, if you're really interested, you may want too start at the beginning with Patriot Games and follow the character as he progresses (though Red Rabbit is now the unofficial start of the Ryan series).

I agree on Rainbow Six, my favorite Clancy for sure. Watch out for the Net Force stuff, they're co-written and I don't think they live up to the "normal" Clancy stuff.

Start at the beginning of the Jack Ryan series and read to the end. Best way to do it. *looks at bookshelf*

I heard a rumor that Red Storm Rising was being worked on for the big screen. Anyone else hear that?

I totally agrre. But you have to read Red October first since it happens before Cardinal of the Kremlin.

The entire Jack Ryan series is incredible. Start from the beginning and read all of them, you'll love them. My favorite of that series would be Debt of Honor.
Rainbow Six is also really good. Jack Ryan plays a minor role in the book, if I remember correctly.
Some of the nonfiction stuff is also good - one of the things I really love about Clancy is the amount of research that goes into his books. He really knows his stuff.
Happy reading!
