No idea. I just use the iPhoto plugin to upload my photos to my Google account.

Sure have. I'm not an advanced user or anything, so iPhoto fits my needs to import my images, do a little touchup, and publish/print them out. I do recommend Picasa for my PC friends and family though.

I use Picasa with CrossOver... kinda gross, but still 10x better than iPhoto.

I've been a Picasa user for a long time, and I'm anxiously waiting for this to be on the Mac. Right now I use it on my Windows XP VM I have setup on my MBP. It works fine that way, but would prefer to use it in Leopard as I'm trying to avoid using XP as much as possible on it.

All the reviews I've seen online only point to minor differences, at least when compared to iPhoto 08.

I used to think like you, but once I got my head around the fact that iPhoto is the file browser/organiser for photos, like Finder is the file browse/organiser for other sorts of files, it all kind of makes sense and works well. But you need a mental jump to get aligned to this way of working.

Really handy through I still love iPhoto and its Smart Folders (though the keywords could be improved somewhat). Two great programs that should copy some features from each other...

With Dropbox it just works across systems and platforms. Throw files into Dropbox and *poof* anywhere I open Picasa there's my photos. No messing with the iPhoto Library, which is really a folder with some metadata but acts a lot more complex (and easier to corrupt).

Also I find the interface more intuitive than iPhoto or MS Digital Image Suite.

Please don't think I'm singling you out, but I do have a question since you seem to be a bit more knowledgeable with Picasa.

I have my pics uploaded to Picasa Web through iPhoto on my machine. This way, family/friends with iPhoto can subscribe to the RSS feed and always have the most recent pics (like MobileMe, I guess). Anyhow, on the PC with Picasa, it seems to download the pics once but it never finds the new uploaded pics. Am I doing something wrong here? Thanks, and sorry to hijack the thread.

I don't know, I use Dropbox's web albums rather than Picasa Web because the photos are already there in my workflow.
