Wasn't able to get on till late last night, but here are my first impressions after about an hour's worth of multiplayer:

- I found it much easier to kill someone with the pistol once you've been downed. Got a ton of kills that way.

- The spawning locations are pretty bad. In one game on the Nuke Town map, our team just spawn f*cked the hell out of the opponents. We won like 7500 to 1600. It was a slaughter.

- I ran into the dogs and there were like 5 of them. Managed to take two of them out but got killed by 3 of them while reloading. Dogs suck.

- Shottys as a primary weapon is horrible and I don't think anyone is going to like.

- Calling in a helicopter isn't as powerful as in MW2. I was running around in the open with an enemy chopper in sight and it had trouble targeting me.

I'm off work today and tomorrow so what time you guys gonna be on?

I predict everyone begins voting against Nuke Town within two weeks.

Must bet to satiate the "shotguns are cheating" crowd.

Definitely. It almost has to be lined up with you perfectly to fire off a shot.

That's great part. I must have played 10 games with Ghost, running around with impunity when helicopters were out, and didn't get fired at. Of course, in the game I learned that, I got spawn killed by the helicopter after it killed me for running out in the open.

And yeah, it might be weaker than the Attack Copter from MW2, which is weaker than the the Attack Copter from CoD4. What idiots.

Forget it.

This always makes me think of my friend who refuses to play CoD multiplayer because "the killstreaks make the game unfair." It seems obvious that they've weakened the killstreaks, possibly in response to people like this. I've heard plenty of people complain about them before (though just as many in favor).

I've always liked them. It gives you something to work for.

Treyarch Issues Stern Warning to Black Ops Cheaters

Like any new multiplayer game adopted by millions of people at once, unscrupulous players have already found a few exploits and glitches in Call of Duty: Black Ops. Treyarch isn't taking the matter sitting down, but doesn't want to give fame to the cheaters either.

"What many of these people want is to be Internet nerd famous," wrote multiplayer director David Vonderhaar on the Call of Duty forums. "I'm not going to make them famous and you shouldn't either ... Given the opportunity, I'd personally wield the ban hammer for anyone who thinks he is clever by abusing any glitches. Good think [sic] I don't have the opportunity that often and we actually have a constructive, measured, and well-managed live ops team."

"We said we would support the game. We are going to support it," he said. "We are disinterested in making mini-celebrities out of douche-bags. You better think twice before you glitch. You never know who in your game doesn't like glitchers who reports you and saves the game in their File Share and tells us about it."

Here's the thing - Weakening Killstreaks and Removing them from counting as streaks is a double-nerf. A triple nerf if you count the decline of the heli from CoD4.

No one complained about the Attack Heli being too strong in MW2. And hilariously, it counting towards killsreaks was almost a on-factor because it sucked so much. 1 out of 5 times it would go massacre 4-5 people instead of 0-1. It was notoriously unreliable.

Does it also seem like there are more indoor spaces to seek refuge in as well?

I'm not sure I've even played all the maps yet, but I would say it always depends on the setting. Doesn't seem different than MW2.

Edit: Honestly some of the maps seem reminiscent of older maps (Like Cracked and Crossfire)

It seems that the codes for the avatar outfits that came with the Hardened and Prestige editions only worked with male avatars. Treyarch's response: universal outfit codes for female avatars...

SR 71 Flight Suit: GYVF8-PF7RY-28D7V-VGWV8-CFGRM

Woods Outfit: R76BQ-CR3MF-G2TTF-9G36R-BQWJD

Get your female avatars ready.

Just looked at the map of Nuke Town (Which is the new Rust, only worse)). I marked the spawns as I understood them.

That means I could be in either house and the enemy can spawn in circle nearest me.

Also, did anyone even go farther right than the center of the map? The part looked neglected.

Oh I forgot to mention, the single player campaign is pretty cool. I've played the first 4 levels and there's a lot of mayhem. Riding motorcycles, taking out tanks in a vehicle, ziplining, etc. Out of all of the CODs, I think this has an actual ok storyline.

It's got president Kennedy, Fidel Castro and a special return of a kick ass Russian from WaW. 'nuff said.

edit: Oh and I do believe that's Ice Cube voicing one of the characters.

I played until I reached lvl 30 last night.

Nuke Town is a goddamn abortion of a map, yet last night it was voted for more than any other map, at one point I played it 4 times in a row.

The revolver pistol is actually useful, and after unlocking the SPAS I find shotguns to be slightly more useful than before.

The AK74u SMG w/grip and extended mags is a great CQB weapon. Right now I alternate between the FAMAS class for lager maps and the AK74u for smaller maps.

Running away from halo's outstretched arms faster and faster.

I'll likely be one of the later ones to Prestige. I won't be on much after tomorrow with some family visiting. Dumb family.

Well, add the blue areas as spawn points. There were actually a few times where I spawned along with the other team, side-by-side, with only the fence (top) and shed (bottom) separating us.

Horrible, horrible map, and people keep voting it through.

After last night, I think I can officially say the spawns are far worse than MW2 and quickly approaching Halo level.

Second, their sound design is second-rate. All the explosions sound the same from any explosive at any distance that isn't right in front of you. At some point last night I was followed by a dude with Marathon while I had NInja and in the killcam and I could barely even hear him. Awful.

I'm also not entirely sure this is in full surround sound. Haven't noticed anything from my back speakers the way I would in MW2.

Incessantly, last night, to the point where I decided I was backing out of lobbies if it came up any more. I don't understand the appeal, ignoring the obvious aesthetic value. Then again, wasn't shipment popular even though it was one gigantic spawn ****?

I can't verify this because twitter is blocked at work, but supposedly the silent footsteps is a glitch. Apparently S&D gets the shaft worse as arming/diasarming the bomb is ultra-stealth silent too.

Black Ops | DenKirson on Xanga

Not as easy to read as MW2s (so far).

This might explain why last night I found a prone guy and put a FAMAS burst into his head point blank and he lived.

Nice analysis on page 3 Dakar. I agree with 99% of what you said.

Stats are bizarre. The leaderboards are screwed up. IIRC Fatty has 16,000 kills or something daft. Once you go into a players stats then it seems reasonable.

Matchmaking is the worst part of the game. I've been doing S&D recently and I can go from 1 little red bar to 4 bars in the space of a match. Others in my clan have the same experience.

I got my arse handed to me in stdm tdm. Depressing even. Swapped to S&D and I'm happier. M16 with laser sight and silencer is effective. Ghost, Warlord and Ninja seem to be the perks although I have a Galil with silencer and I'm using Sleight of Hand on that class. Loads of people using the AK-74u and MP5K in S&D.

It would be nice to have a shotty as secondary, I'm not the greatest with a pistol.

From what I've read, this, too, is a glitch.

I also read that something similar happened during WaW and their solution included a stat reset. These guys are coming off as pros.
