Damn. If the Devils had played Brodeur today, they probably would have won, and Toronto would be in the playoffs.

However, without Brodeur, the Devils lost to the Islanders, and the Islanders clinched that last playoff spot away from Toronto.

I am ecstatic that the Raptors will be in the playoffs and the Leafs won't. Ahhhhhhh, life is good.

And damn Toronto for taking Montreal out. Damn. Them.

I wanted both the Raptors and Leafs in the playoffs. That would have been great.

P.S. That Montreal/Toronto game was awesome. Lousy defence, but exciting:

3-1 Toronto --> 5-3 Montreal --> 6-5 Toronto.

Yeah, sorry, I'm not much of a Leafs fan unfortunately. Something about, you know, large payrolls, annoying fans who can't even afford to go to the games, and a sweet sweet lack of success.

These are not my predictions; they're just the teams I'd like to see win in the first round. In the West: Detroit, Minnesota, Vancouver, and San Jose. In the East: Buffalo, New Jersey, New York Rangers, and Pittsburgh.

As far as winning the cup, go Detroit!

I have a really hard time picking between Ottawa and Pittsburgh. I really like both teams; the style of hockey they play, and the way the clubs have been built and managed. I'd love the Pens to suddenly develop into the powerhouse they should become and march to the Cup destroying all the insignificant peons in their way; on the other hand, it would be undeniably sweet to see Ottawa have a Cup run and shove it down the throats of all those Leafs fans who always come back to that same argument "Well at least we beat Ottawa every year!" Ahhhhhhhhhh, to be in Toronto if Ottawa hoists the Cup...oh. so. good.

I miss the playoffs. Then again, not making it in is a lot less of a kick in the nuts then getting eliminated every year.

Yeah, close game. I think they'll keep on their toes now. They have a habit of losing a few goals in the 3rd. :/

Teams I will cheer for: Thrashers (because of Bon Hartley), Sabres (because of Drury), Preds (because of Forsberg).

Teams I cheer against: Canucks (because they are the Canuckleheads and because of Crow's inane support of Bertuzzi).

Teams that I would chuckle if they died in a horrible bus crash: Dead Wings (because I just hate the Dead Wings and because they signed Bertuzzi, who hopefully breaks his neck on the ice so he can spend some long painful recovery time thinking about irony). However, if Bertuzzi sustains a career ending injury, I will move the Dead Wings up from the Teams That Need To Go Down in a Flaming Plane Crash to teams I cheer against.

What is this "NHL" that you speak of? In Chicago, I don't think we have a team in that...

Oh, this is sweeet! The Rangers sweep the Trashers, er... Thrashers.
And now the Broadway Blueshirts can rest up for a week or so, while everybody else has to play on.

I do not argue that point, but that does not change the fact that the Dead Wings need to die a horrible death. And actually it is not because of the Avs/Dead Wings hatred (because of that I just chuckle when they lose), but it is because they have Neck Breaker Bertuzzi in their barn, who is a cockroach of a human. Any one other than a hockey player in Canada breaks a guys neck hitting him from behind after a play would be in jail.
Wings player & fans whined about Claude Lemieux's hit on Draper (which was dirty and cheap), but they seem warm and snuggly with Bertuzzi in their midst. Like having it both ways, do yah? Woohoo. Go Wings.

We were given tickets to Sunday's Tampa Bay game. It could be the game that either Tampa Bay or New Jersey is kicked out of the playoffs.

Yeah Bertuzzi's sucker punch was not the classiest thing in hockey. I will argue though that had Moore not sustained that injury, everybody would have forgotten about this hit. Worse things happen often in the NHL unfortunately. Sometimes it ends badly, most often it does not.
I think Bertuzzi's paid his due. He apologized. He deserves another chance. He certainly is under scrutiny though and won't be spared any other 'mistake'.

The Sens simply dominated the Pens. Very, very impressive.

I'd still like them to face the Rangers rather than the Devils. The Devils have always scared me. I think it's because I was a Roy fan; I don't think one can be a Roy and Brodeur fan and still exist in the same time continuum.

Wow, how the Flames can ruin the momentum they had by playing like beer league players is just unbelievable. I hope the league is going to clean that up and put up a few suspensions (Iginla and Landkow come to mind).

The flames don't deserve to be in this playoff.

Sucker punch with gloves on? Sorry, that ain't hockey.
And Iginla was running around trying to get somebody to fight. The only one he found was Schneider??! Lame.
Not that it matters, the Flames are done anyways.

Oh, you must be new to hockey then?

The punch was certainly debatable; it probably could've been rung up for a major, although Lebda was already getting nailed for the tripping penalty. A post-review suspension? It would be a shock. And as for Iginla, whether he was running around looking for a fight or not (and he certainly was intent on doing some damage), he's not specifically an enforcer and "playing real rough and/or dirty at the end of a game you're gonna lose" could certainly be assessed a penalty, but a post-game suspension wouldn't fly.

In any case, the home team is dominant so far, which doesn't look good for Calgary. That's the problem they've had all season, and why they had to squeak into the playoffs in the first place. Detroit is playing amazingly well and as usual getting performance out of most of their lines. (On that note, San Jose had an amazing 4-line rotation against the Preds!)

Not an expert in hockey I admit, but that punch should have been reviewed. The league decided otherwise that's unfortunate.
The behavior they had in the name of 'sending a message' was pretty sad. Once again, the Flames will be out tonight so at the end it does not matter really. Let's hope it does not get any uglier.
A wings victory would also trigger a SJ/Anaheim semi that should be really fun to watch (that's only if Dallas wins tomorrow night of course.... I eliminated the Canucks a little bit prematurely it seems)

And today ended the season for the Lightning. In my opinion, the Devils played better hockey over these last few games. Brodeur (spell?) was a challenge for the Lightning to get through.

Sad to see their season end so soon, but hey.
