I plan to, but I can't promise anything as getting my diploma has a higher priority right now.
i tried playing around with a little app from apples dev page that hides the menu bar and the dock. the menu bar slides down from the top when the mouse goes near the area that the menu bar was,
That's possible, no problem.

but the dock gets killed and cant be used- that sucks 'cause i like the dock. in your haxie does the menu bar and dock stay hidden completely ?
Currently it hides both menu bar an Dock competely. Making the menu bar appear on demand is easy, it would be harder with the Dock. Anyhow, I don't use the Dock very much, I prefer LaunchBar and LiteSwitch (as you say, keyboard is faster ) and we'll see how important the Dock will be once we all have Expos.

I'd love it if my menubar would appear only when the cursor actually hits the top of the screen and the dock would appear only when the cursor hits the side or bottom of the screen. That 'getting near' the dock thing drives me nutso.... why not use the actual border of the screen as a trigger, similar to the corners for a screensaver?
And for those who question 'Why?'; my reason is that I am a big BIG fan of desktop pictures and having the top 20 pixels cropped at all times is something I could live without most of the time. I use my TiBook at work all day as some kind of Giant superexpensive iPod while I work on a WinDoze crapbox and with iTunes I have no need for the menubar or even the interface at all. I'd love to toggle them off and just see the pictures on the desktop. And while I am surfing at home I don't need it either... all the controls on my browsers are on the window pretty much. I think I'd better keep it for Photoshop though :-] I'm holding my breath for the release of this great Ape.

I have a pretty boring desktop. Sometimes my DTPs are flashier, but when I am doing design work, I like this one.

I like that, but the colors don't do anything for me so I made a brushed variation. Click it for full size!

mrtew - That's awesome! I know I'm really stretching my limit today by requesting so many things, but would you mind making a normal 1024x768 one? If I tell OS X to stretch it, it looks funny, and I don't have the graphics arts skills to move it myself while keeping that neat chiseled look.

take a folder, give it a dividing icon, name it "DIvider01.app" and drop it on the right side of your dock. It should hop over to the other side, then you can place it where you like.
("DIvider01.app" is just an example, you could make it "BillGates.app" and it would not matter, you just need the .app on a folder.)

A tip: If you name the app with spaces instead, there won't be a tooltip when the mouse goes over it.

Here's a slightly modified Panther:
I've darkend the lines on the menubar, as well as trying to get rid of any metal. Finder looks clunky even with a hacked striped look. I've also tried to make it all look like Jag with the higher contrasting stripes.
My desktop is normally full of icons, but drag n drop of items onto aliases seems to be busted in Panther.

It's quite rough round the ol' edges, but hasn't done anything funky on me yet, no Kernel panics or freezes. Nice n fast, but a LOT of stuff, like apps, just freak out.
P.s.
I managed to get my titlebars back into Panther, crude quick hack, the tiling is so obvious, but better than metal

Cool! I guess theming will be possible in Panther afterall... at least in Black&White. I'm going to have to stop complaining about all the lite gray themes being made now, and it should lead to a reduction in baby blue themes!

Cheers. Yeah I hope theming will be possible; what I did there was change just one thing in the extras.rsrc, I did a version with the bevels more hard-edged, less rounded, but it just screwed up ical and address book.
I don't really know much about theming, but thought I should take a stab at seeing what goes on since I'm not teribbly happy with the burshed look. Saying that though, a nice dark theme would go down quite well, seen a few around but there was always something that didn't quite click wih me in them.

Lol, I love em, reminds me of the Atari. I think I'll be going bac kto the default Panther scheme, after looking at it, the new toned down strips seems to fir panther better than the Jag look, also, the finder window doesn't look right at all with what I did, the widgets are off a bit and doesn;t look good. Oh well.
If someone comes up with a decent Jag look, I'd put it on, really can't stand metal, the loko and the thickness of the windows doesn't do it for me.

They aren't as bad. But I still got rid of them.
I made Panther look a bit darker as well. More OS 9 colored.

Oke, seems somebody a few posts above
didnt like lightgray much (although it was
just to illustrate how good a gui looks
consistent, instead of stripes here, metal there, glossy, plastic etc)
So go ahead and call this boring...
Just my everyday jag setup

Just hit reply to someone's post that does what you want and you can see the code they used. Copy it! (works for most things in life actually).

Really nice Desktop! not that i would ever use anything like that but i think is a cool level original customization. Your brushed metal is great
What app are you censoring there? you know we want to know.
PS: Is that Dragthing with the folders on the left?

hehehe... a little censor button always does the trick
'brushed' icons used in the flower power shot:
Duraniumz http://mac.axonz.com
By the way, I overdid it a bit in that shot,
normally I would have a mod. brushed
theme with a mod. brushed desktop and those
icons ...also customized offcourse
That Dock is actually A-Dock, you can store
apps, docs, folders etc in it. I use it only for
my most visited folders and Apple Dock for
apps/urls

Very very nice! I can't imagine that people with TiBooks and AluBooks and even the new G5 wouldn't LOVE that theme! Maybe it's not to late for Apple to drop brushed and aqua and go for that as a last minute replacement. I'm not worried about theming in Panther anymore. I like cobbled up stuff I've seen so far better than 80% of Jaguar themes already!

That looks great! Much cleaner and more elegant than the standard BM (I guess I'll call it Aqua BM). It makes me think of the BM equivalent of smoothstripes (and since I love smoothstripes, it should be fairly clear what I think of this theme ). I still wouldn't want to replace aqua with it, but I'd replace every trace of brushed metal as fast as I could hit the download button.
