I had been getting kernel panics sometimes when I "wake-from-sleep" so I hope this will fix it....

The first firmware update gave me random shutdowns, the second one fixed them, so I'm not going to risk another firmware update when everything is working hunky dory now.

Check Activity Monitor for a run-away process. My temps are the same as before.

Anyone running SMC fan control? If so, does the firmware update interfere with it?

The last one had no effect on my screen flickering...

To be honest, I've actually noticed it more since the last update...

It is supposed to do that. Or did you think your Mac was screaming?

Just installed it so I'm not sure of anything yet.

I'll be installing it tonight when I get home from work, so we'll see if it makes any noticeable difference.

According to the VT comments section, someone's computer froze part way though the update then turned off. Now they say the system will no longer boot at all...

According to the comment, the system was plugged in at the time...

Forutnatly nothing like that happened durring my update...

my bro updated my moms MB last night i guess.. and this morning after i woke up i found her using the dell. i was like wt.. ? why u using that. she said the MB keeps freezing and the network isn't working. so i go and say lets do the firmware update [i didn't know my bro already updated it the night before] and check the network.. it wasn't working for it.. and right next to it the PB is working just fine and same w/ the dell[s]. so i go and get the Ethernet cable out to see if that works. negative. i restarted and got the same result like 3 times [mind you the fan is running hard during all this] on the 4th restart i just left it and didn't do anything and the fans still running so i open activity monitor to see whats going on and one of the bars all blue the other just black. so im guessing one of the cores was running full?? anyway after that the MB froze so i force shutdown and turned it on again then shutdown through menu w/out doing anything so it cools down a bit. 30 mins later, all is well and working.. but im still pissed at wtf happened

anyone have anything similar after the update?

Just installed. Sure wasn't expecting it to scream at me like that though... good thing I did it at home instead of during my psychology lecture.

Anyway, no problems encountered, and no changes noticed yet, though I haven't tried booting into XP to see if anything is different there.

If it aint broke...

To be a bit more constructive, for those whose update went wonky, you can burn a firmware restore CD: Apple - Support - Downloads - Firmware Restoration CD 1.2

Some people need to read the instructions apple give you befire they update. Follow them exactly and you should have any problem. Don't follow them to the T and its your fault!

I updated the SMC firmware as i couldn't be bothered before then straight after the EFI update with no problems.

Not the firmware updates. It runs after software update, but before so it gives you a nice long list of items to read and study before hand
