It's not unusual for Presidents to stock the cabinet with cronies, er, respected colleagues... but what has been announced so far just seems like more of a kick in the pants than usual. Certainly some of them are being rewarded for cowtowing when it was needed, more than actual skills.

Bannon: friend of the white nationals movement, the man behind Breitbart and its sensationalist headlines
Guliani: Secretary of State, Attorney General?
Christie: Was head of transition team, but now Pence is... This is why he put up with being Trump's kicking dog the last year. Worth it?
Myron Ebell, climate change skeptic, in charge of EPA?
Mike McKenna, energy lobbyist, department of energy?
Sarah Palin, will she finally get to drill baby drill?

And Pence... what exactly is his role? Brain behind the man?

It should make left's collective head explode, because many of them are "deplorable medieval Catholics" especially Bannon.

Pence was raise Catholic. Perhaps Conway and Bannon will bring him back to the dark side.

You fell for the misdirection, andi. He didn't give his opinion in any of the people and tied in a conspiracy theory about Hillary and then used it as a blanket smear of liberals.

Myself, I'm saving any objections until official announcements. The media has a field day speculating after any election let alone one involving a trump administration.

I do find Reince a curious choice for CoS from a "anti-establishment " candidate. Doesn't this undermine his drain the swamp message?

No, andi asked if the Church condoned wife beating after I merely pointed out that many of the "deplorables" Trump is selecting are also "medieval Catholics" and that would cause heads to explode.

And then Chongo implied I beat my spouse. Typical Trumpian deflection. Also, classy!

I have no problem with Catholics in the cabinet... in and of itself. These particular so-called Catholics however... I'm sure Jesus would weep.

Actually, that's a Clintonian deflection.

Jesus wept when he read Podesta's emails about trying to subvert Catholic teaching.

Shows how dumb they are to call Bannon a white nationalist when a core tenet is anti-Catholicism.

Naturally you wouldn't think Trump REPEATEDLY re-tweeting known white supremacist accounts means anything in this regard. And surely this is just the "Regressive media" ....

Remember that Bannon told Mother Jones in August that Breitbart is “the platform for the alt-right.” So when the site explains that “there are many things that separate the alternative right from old-school racist skinheads (to whom they are often idiotically compared),” the explanation reads a lot like a defense of a group in which Breitbart is a leading member.

Since Bannon identifies Breitbart as an alt-right news site, the question is whether the alt-right encompasses white nationalism, an ideology characterized by a belief that the United States' identity as a nation built by white people (or “European Americans,” as David Duke euphemistically calls them) is under attack and must be restored. The answer is clearly yes.

In their guide to the alt-right, Breitbart's Allum Bokhari and Milo Yiannopoulos acknowledge that the alt-right includes “real racists and bigots” but argue that “there's just not very many of them, no one really likes them, and they're unlikely to achieve anything significant in the alt-right.”

Why, then, is there so much online hate speech under the alt-right flag? Breitbart contends that most of it should be taken in jest. Here's more from Bokhari and Yiannopoulos:

The alt-right openly crack jokes about the Holocaust, loudly — albeit almost entirely satirically — expresses its horror at “race-mixing,” and denounces the “degeneracy” of homosexuals … while inviting Jewish gays and mixed-race Breitbart reporters to their secret dinner parties. What gives?

If you're this far down the article, you'll know some of the answers already. For the meme brigade, it's just about having fun. They have no real problem with race-mixing, homosexuality, or even diverse societies: It's just fun to watch the mayhem and outrage that erupt when those secular shibboleths are openly mocked. These younger mischief makers instinctively understand who the authoritarians are and why and how to poke fun at them.
There. See? Everyone should calm down, Breitbart explained, because hurling “vicious slurs and stereotypes” is akin to “jocks busting each other's balls at the college bar.”

So when Breitbart writes about “why white people seek black privilege” and stokes fear of refugees and resentment toward immigrants, we shouldn't view those stories as embodying white nationalist themes. Apparently we should laugh.
‘Can you name one white nationalist article at Breitbart?’ Challenge accepted! | WashingtonPost.com

So apparently all the racist, xenophobic, and sexist BS we routinely see under the "alt-right" banner in the comments sections of Breitbart, Reddit, Fox News, and other right-wing media is all just for "shits and grins".

And then, or course, there are these gems for headlines ....

10 of Breitbart's most incendiary headlines

Since when have you been able to call your representative WITHOUT waiting an hour on hold just to get a cookie cutter response?

It seems Pence has got hold of the reins, and ousted the lobbyists from the Cabinet short list. Trump is still auditioning Cabinet members at Trump Tower like this is a game show, and posting mysterious tweets about it.

Who do I text #256347 to so that we get great candidates?

I guess BadKosh and Chongo are working on their pivot from deflecting things to be about Obama, Clinton, or liberals generally to something new, perhaps with lots of clever misspellings and catch phrases in BadKosh's case. I guess Chongo is just counting down the days until abortion becomes illegal and Planned Parenthood no longer exists.

BadKosh just gave you your answer: Since being thrown into the worst economy and job market that the US has seen since the Great Depression with unprecedented levels student loan debt, the state of the US is now the fault of the lazy Millennials that don't want to work hard and are demanding absurd things like loving your neighbor.

I'll be happy when Planned Parenthood no longer receives $500,000,000 a year from the tax payers. Getting Roe overturned does not mean abortion will be illegal. It means it will be back in the hands of individual states

So you're in favor of increasing the financial burden on taxpayers due to more Medicare births and also potentially an uptick in maternal deaths?
