If you are working with video (iMovie or FCE) it's very handy, but not vital.

I use it frequently for working with video, but my license also came with Final Cut Pro, so if I didn't have that, I'm not sure I'd have bought it. It's handy for quick video recompression that doesn't need the extra features of Compressor.

I use it to encode videos to another format and to cut some clips I've downloaded. Fullscreen is nice also

i've been doing imperfect but quick audio edits with it (just to make myself ringtones!);
but for quick&easy conversions (and fullscreen playback), it's a great (enough) app.

It's one of those "glad to have it in case" things.

If you use the following script .... you get full screen playback for free!

tell application "QuickTime Player"
present front movie scale screen
end tell

i know that one...and the freebie apps at versiontracker.

it's just a "bonus" function of qt pro; the editing & export functions make it worthwhile.

(but good info if u don't have qt pro...)

I use it on a daily basis. But then I work in Video Production, and am constantly exporting clips for web, CD, converting audio tracks to AIFF, what have you. QuickTime Pro is included with Final Cut Studio, so we never purchase it separately. As a home user, I cannot see much use for it unless you are doing video exporting of your own.

They don't sell it to my country, Turkey and my city Istanbul so no way to legally use it.

We aren't axis or something. It is just Apple thinks there are 10 countries on World (check international store drop down menu)

iMovie transitions kept causing screw-ups during rending in iDVD, so I've found QT PRO very handy in joining pieces of video together real quickly with a couple keystrokes and the clilpboard. Works awesome. I also use for video and audio capture from an iSight or audio inputs on my computer. Another useful utility is transcoding for streaming or whatever.
