I'd say leave IRC out and if you need to do some IRC work, volunteer to help out Colloquy.

We're pretty sure that was our old sound code and should be fixed in 0.63 and higher. Let us know if you're still having similar issues (on the adium forums)

I agree. We have no plans for irc support in the default distribution at this time.

However, hooking up libgaim's irc plugin is a great way to stress test our multi-user chat code and would provide benefits to chat across all the IM protocols we support, so I have no issues with someone on the team pursuing that goal.

IRC is fine in an IM-app. Trillian does it quite good. As long as Adium does not suddenly equal: Excess Bloat IM

Im in for IRC in Adium.. It doesnt have to be more than a single option under a menu for 'Go to irc chat-room...'

Quite simple an non-bloated. But I do wish all the IM services to be fully functional first though.

That would be a terrible IRC client if that's all it could do. But it seems Adam already knows that IRC doesn't belong in Adium.

I think IRC would be just fine in Adium.

Is it possible this could be made as an optional plug-in, so purists can do without it and those of us who want it could add it?

Of course this is idle speculation... don't want it to feel like I'm pushing the devs or trying to control Adium development.

Love the program!

No.. not yet at least. If the gaim-vv fork goes well and finds itself back into the main Gaim tree (and subsequently the libgaim tree), then it's possible. But not until then.

They should have at least put a stable build out before deciding to wait MONTHS before releasing another build.

I mean com'on people - they're doing this for free, and for fun too. They get to decide when and how to release it.

Actually, if you get the latest source, they seem to be pretty close now. Looks like the rest is just polish and the killing of some bugs.

I'm not saying it's going to be tomorrow, but it wont be months.
