I can handle the iPod being sold at Best Buy. I can handle the Mac mini being sold at Target (at least it was going to be). I didn't mind it that Apple and HP made a deal. What is next? The Wal-Mart iPod from HP by Apple maybe?

I noticed a few Belkin ipod mini accessories the other day in the electronics aisle. I was surprised to see those, but I didn't see any ipods.

"Look ma! I got me one of them iPod thingies!"

Wal-Mart is not known for selling quality merchandise, just cheap stuff. Apple must really be planning on boosting production and cutting prices.

Unless it's just minis and shuffles...

I could see em putting everything in there. That said, I don't think this will enormously boost iPod sales. Either way, I'm surprised their first venture isn't the shuffle.

Yeah, you would think that at most they would stock Shuffles. For those who don't know, Walmart attracts the type of customer that is prone to open boxes and pilfer through merchandise. It often looks like a feeding frenzy there, with throngs swarming all over the place.

I like King of the Hill's take on Wal-Mart. You gotta love Mega Lo Mart.

Here is a long but good article on Wal-Mart and some of the ways they do business. If anyone is interested:

Then it's a real gamble. A good chunk of iPod sales and sales premium is built on the "cool" image. Walmart is anything but.

iPods are available at 7-11s in my town. Why the hate? the product is still good. It just means its more mainstream. And that's good for Apple and good for Apple users.

The sales premium was built on cool when it was just intrduced. Now, the iPod is simply the most decent music player, good for everyone.
