Unfortunately there isn't much competition so, ShapeShifter. Fortunately, however, ShapeShifter totally rocks.

Maybe it's past his bedtime and his momma won't let him get on the computer. Worry not, I'm sure he'll be here soon to pontificate theming apps as soon as possible. :-)

I heard Zim was coming back...

And I heard he had no problems with SS.

Just prefers not to use it.

What was insane about what I posted?

Why do people have chips on their shoulders about people who don't want to use SS? Esp when they have valid reasons.

I would never want to see SS go away. It's needed for some themes. Plus it's a great app for most things.

Just not for me.

Having that choice is good.

There are some people that seem to be anti-choice. I am not one of them.

No big deal.

What about the old Themechanger? I know there are just a few dlta themes out there but I just found out (from iridium theme creator) that ThemeChanger 6.1 stills do his job in Tiger 10.4.2. And it does!
And if there may be some risc in replacing system resources, it sure lets the system run free. Shapeshifter messes up with application code while on ram, cpu cycles for nothing and if you check your crash reporter log you will see the word APE everywhere..
And what about the vaporware Duality 5?
I just would like to see some competition on this dev area.. Makes things grow.

Just find a theme you really like, replace the resources by hand, and be happy.

That is what I did.

I don't like running system "hacks" if I don't have to. :/

The only real risc is if you try to load an Extras.rsrsc for an old OS.

I don't trust themechanger it made my puter crash and everything was gone I mean there was no menu bar the dock wouldn't work it was scary!!!! You have to be smart or something to use it b/c for me it never worked, n was so complicated it made my head dizzy....shapeshifter is easy to use. All I know is if you mess around with themechanger you better know what your doing otherwise you are screwed.

question for anybody who might know...

ok i know you can export a theme from themepark to .dlta format (actually gives you 2 choices) now my question is..can you export to .dlta to use in themechanger? and if so which .dlta do you choose for it to work? thanks to all

Just because it doesn't "touch" resources doesn't mean it can't make your computer act screwy.

Maybe that is true, I don't know enough about it yet b/c I've only used it for a little while but so far it is ok, but when I used that themechanger my puter was not functional everything was all gone could not see the menubar, n dock was not functioning so I had to reformat....there are really no other options I think SS is safest!

SS should be fine really. If you haven't had any problems yet, you probably wont.

There is just certain things I don't like about it.

If you have some serious work to get done you will notice some system slowdown coming from SS. There are no miracles on this, as objects are beeing themed on the fly..
I wish SS could give us 2 options:
1- Patch memory code (for testing themes up) as it does now ;
2- Patch resouces (for a definitive, non obstructive solution). For hardcore users.

Yes,... I was posting such insane babble in here.

Some people get so emotionally attached to software, they cannot stand when anyone has any criticism about it. It bothers them SO MUCH they launch attacks on the person just THINKING he might show up and say something.

Talk about insecurity. It's just software people. Not your wife, or girlfriend, or mom.

Funny thing about themes for me: when a new one comes out that looks good I use for a while. Um, maybe a couple of weeks. But then I start to miss the simplicity of the standard aqua interface. It is for this reason that I don't use Shapeshifter much let alone anything else. Either way, I'm with Kev on this one as I've noticed a certain, "infatuation", with software that borderlines on unhealthy.

You realize his post says MINUS the insane babble? MINUS. He's saying you weren't posting babble in this thread. Why do you keep replying with "You're insecure! Calling my talk insane babble!" each time..?

I was referring to the poster that made the comment about it being incorrect.

Just look at all of the people frothing at the mouth when the G5 came out (myself included) or all of the conversation and hype and anxious waiting once Steve came out with the mactel bombshell.

I agree with you, but its nice to have fun and enjoy something in life provided it doesn't take over your life.

I am blocked because I gave an opinion about a piece of software?

Ji Eun I suggest you let go of your emotional ties to software.

You're right People often regard most Mac users as borderlining fanatics and I won't deny that label for a second. The trick is knowing when to just let go...I've been in enough debates with avid pc users to know that sometimes it just ain't worth risking an aneurysm

idiot, your presumption about what a macnn poster who you've never met or talked to outside of these forums is emotionally attached to or vice versa is preposterous. this level of persistence, misplaced self-assuredness and stupidity is why you're on my ignore list. you are a toad.

I think that the topic of this thread is way different from what some of you are discussing. For a new person on a forum posts like this are a big turn off. Arguing with eachother, and personally attacking eachother is silly. Some of you need to grow up, no offence or anything....its just the original question isn't being discussed and you are really just attacking one person. I don't know Kevin or what he did to all of you but no reason for everyone to gang up on one person...and no reason for Kevin to attack you or for you to attack him. At the end of the day this is where people come to discuss mac and everything to do with mac, i'm sure you all love mac so there you go you have one thing in common *hopefully*. I didn't mean to sound rude in this post...but when new users join this type of thing turns them off...and it's really pointless, obviously according to most of you Kevin is not a fan of shapeshifter...and has his opinions as you all have yours...but fighting over it won't change anything. And this really is no reason to fight, at the end of the day it is just people's opinions about software, so nobody should hurt other people's feelings over it, its just not worth fighting for. I hope I didn't hurt any of your feelings, I just felt like saying how I felt about it.
