OMG. That was hilarious. I'd love to see a followup to that. He'll never show his face in that room again, though

Seriously, this shows you that putting "tools" like that in the hands of script "kiddies" (he's 26) who don't know what they're doing can be dangerous to the kiddies themselves!

If he didn't realise it after discovering that all his hard drives were suddenly and inexplicably empty, not only would he be too dumb ever to have any aspirations whatsoever of becoming a h4xx0r (evar!), the very fact that he is able to breathe on his own would quite frankly astound me.

Come to think of it, assuming the original IRC transcriptions are genuine, nobody can be that stupid. The 'dumb' guy might actually be the one laughing at the 'smart' kids here. Perhaps he was just faking it, saying all that 'I'll hack you so bad' stuff to see how the others would react. He could have caused the ping timeouts himself by just closing the connection.

A pretty lame sense of humour, if that's what he did, but it somehow seems a more acceptable alternative than having to accept that there might actually be people out there who are really that stupid...

I've known people like that. It may very well be fake, but I sadly don't think it's unbelievable.

Well, obviously, if he wants to take the piss out of these kids and make them believe it, he'd have to ping himself out at just the right times, otherwise it wouldn't make any sense whatsoever.

I still don't really see any great humour in taking the piss out of these kids by making it seem like they're taking the piss out of you, though...

I think that it is possible to be that stupid. at first he asked for the computer number thing(ip address) then he said you shouldn't give out your ip over the internet(Uhm it is possible to find out someone's ip fairly easily if someone visits a website, giving it out over irc is not too much different) also he didn't come back later and say it was a joke

Yeah, I think this guy is genuine (not about his age, but his level of intelligence), because you'd have to be a genius to fake this:
<Elch> you had a ping timeout: * bitchchecker ([email protected]) Quit (Ping timeout#)
<bitchchecker> what ping man
<bitchchecker> the timing of my pc is right
<bitchchecker> i even have dst
<bitchchecker> you banned me
<bitchchecker> amit it you son of a bitch
<HopperHunter|afk> LOL
<HopperHunter|afk> **** you're stupid, DST^^
<bitchchecker> shut your mouth WE HAVE DST!
<bitchchecker> for two weaks already
<bitchchecker> when you start your pc there is a message from windows that DST is applied.

I beg to differ. I remember on GameRanger (a long long time ago, when it first started and before it went downhill) there was this kid from Oregon that was just as stupid as the guy that thought he was a hacker. This kid was mid teens I think and he was asking me how to hack his friend's computer (which happened to be a Mac). His english/spelling was about as good as a 5 year olds...doesn't say much about the school system he is in...and he just couldn't figure out how to do anything. Then when I wouldn't help him (since I don't hack) he said he was going to hack me. I told him the 127.0.0.1 also and he dropped offline after a few moments. I wish I would have copied that chat. It turned out fairly similar except without the erased HDs.
