Has anybody noticed this recently? In El Capitan, my Favorites are listed on the left in Finder windows, but they are missing in dialogs. Here's Open from Chrome and my Favorites in the Finder. Any ideas?

Not running El Cap, but have you checked that it isn't just related to the size of the window - that it auto-hides things in that list if the window gets too small?

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

No. In the Finder, you can scroll the list of favorites if there are too many. They don't disappear. Resizing the open/save dialog does nothing.

JUST happened to me.
Found this article-deleting the com.apple.finder.plist file and rebooting (bottom of the article), did the trick for me. And while YMMV, I didn't even "lose" my favorites (I took a screenshot just in case).
