This is not my iBook, but my church's. It had 9.1 installed which I upgraded to 9.2.1 last night. There is one persistent problem, though. When starting up, it goes all the way through the boot-up sequence, then the desktop and all desktop icons show up. It then becomes unresponsive. I can move the mouse around but that's it. If I do a force quit, the Finder restarts and then everything works normally. Anyone have any ideas on what is causing this or how to make it behave normally on bootup?
I've run Tech Tool, did an install of 9.2.1 (not clean), rebuilt the desktop and zapped the PRAM.

Go back to 9.1.
It's prob looking for a network, or loading filesharing. Turn of WebSharing and FileSharing or something.
Let it go for 20 mins, see if it becomes responsive.

Thanks. I got it solved at another forum ( Macintoshian Achaia at Ars Technica). Turns out it was looking for some aliases in the Server folder. I deleted those and it was fine. Had the same issue in 9.1
Turns out I had an extra OS X license, so I installed it on the iBook.

Yeah, it was looking for a network.
Always been a problem... ah well. Sometimes it afflicts, sometimes it doesn't.
I have an AppleScript in my Shutdown items folder which empties the Servers folder... you should consider that.
ON RUN
Tell application "Finder"
delete contents of folder "Servers" of folder "System Folder" of startup disk
end tell
END RUN
Or something like that. Check it first. It's nearly 2am, I'm partially intoxicated, and I shouldn't be here... it should work though
