Nope. What specific issue are you having?

Since this has nothing to do with Mac Notebook hardware, I'm moving this to the Lounge.

I get the constant stuttering on occasion, it's typically my network. Switching it off "HD" usually fixes it until more bandwidth opens up, or whatever was wrong goes away.

If you’re watching Fox content, I’ve noticed that the embedded player on Fox’s website uses less CPU than Hulu’s, even though it has almost exactly the same interface. Makes for a quieter viewing experience.

On my 1.5MHz Powerbook, I have similar stuttering - as though not keeping buffered far enough ahead.
I thought it was my so-so DSL.
I would gripe about a lack of feedback about the status of buffering, among other things
And... if there are stop/pause controls... they sure don't jump out at me.

If you put your cursor near the bottom of the window, the pause controls will jump out at you. Along with the status of buffering.

I have an emac (!) and sometimes get the stuttering. I blame comcast or other networking, because sometimes it's fine.

Do you have the same problem with NBC's website? That would make it clear whether it's Hulu's fault or your connection.

Maybe they're packet-shaping online video (slowing it down to ensure that more important traffic gets priority).

Shouldn't really affect a service like Hulu because their video is streaming via HTTP which will be interpreted as web traffic by the shaper. Or do they not use HTTP for video?
I guess a good test would be whether or not the same issues are present for YouTube and Google Video.

Intelligent packet-shaping devices can usually tell the source of traffic, not just what port it's coming in on. Telling it to slow down traffic to/from *.hulu.com is pretty simple.

Good point. Although in my experience Hulu is actually pretty easy on the bandwidth, so it wouldn't really be my first choice of services to block.

That's pretty diabolical. Would there be a good way to test for this? Perhaps watch Activity Monitor while watching a Hulu video?

I had never had any stuttering problems with hulu (MBP and new iMac) until I tried watching the Office and House last night. So it could be a new(ish) problem. I tried reinstalling flash, but in the end I just switched from Safari to Firefox. I found that although it stopped a few times to buffer, it seemed to be smarter about only starting when it had enough to play for a good 10-15 minutes, instead of starting too early and stuttering like in Safari.
Perhaps Hulu's servers were just being hit hard last night.

I can watch 1080p video on my MacBook Pro, but encapsulate it in Flash, and it barely push 480. Gods I hate Flash. I was really hoping Adobe would finally, after nearly 10 years, actually make it so it runs on a Mac properly.

I have little if any problems with sites like youtube, google vids etc. Just problems with Hulu mostly during the day

Not many problems here when my DSL is working as it should. I do notice if I have Boinc running then Hulu really stutters a lot.

I just noticed that when you pause a video, Hulu now shows a little "buffer meter" letting you know how much of a buffer is built up.
