Not sure if it's just me or not but after I installed the January 25th security update, I can't get the finder or safari to take a theme. Ideas? (with ShapeShifter 2 and a theme i know worked before the update.)

Did you try the obvious, like trashing SS prefs, cache ?

you didnt happen to use that little Finder Hack that makes your "About this Mac" say 10.4 did you? cause ever since then i havent been able to use themes either. it sucks ass. anyone want to send me the one that's supposed to be in there for the latest update of 10.3?

Navigate to HD->System->Library->CoreServices->SystemVersion.plist

Copy it to your DT and open it in Text Edit...... Change all strings making reference to 10.4 to 10.3.7 (or your current OS)

Save file and Copy....... Paste into CoreServices->Replace->Authenticate

ReStart your computer.

I agree with you, but someone actually made that file do that thing. It would be nice if people who decide to muck with such things give some kind of warning about the consequences or at least include a "Read Me" file that clearly explains how to undo it. Neither were the case here.

dude...it was part of a GUI kit i found in THIS forum.

my advice though is to NOT edit it with text edit. i had to reinstall my system because the computer wouldnt restart after editing it.

Then you did it incorrectly...... this type of hack has been around forever.

Ok found the fix. Unsanity finally posted something on their site.

In Terminal type:

defaults delete com.unsanity.shapeshifter CustomSettings

And all is fixed.
