Change? Change is in the air?

What if Apple cut the prices of all their consumer computers by 25% in order to make a real splash.

No idea why that popped into my head... but it's something I think Apple has needed to do for a long time.

As long as there isn't anything in the water...

I can imagine a wireless, universal iPod dock.

Wireless syncing, not power. Then you can sync your iPod in a different room in the house.

The iPhone and iTouch will gain WiFi syncing without a dock.

Maybe we'll see wireless earphones?

Maybe wireless USB-like technology, but that actually works.

By "Something in the air" they could mean what Steve (and others) call the "cloud" meaning the internet content serving etc.

So perhaps he means movie downloads coming from the cloud OR have something to do with "TV being on the air" and here is Apples new movies on demand.

As to what it means, I have no idea.
I'd assume something like wifi syncing wouldn't get its own banner.

I hope it's a new product because that's more exciting than wireless syncing of my iPhone; which I feel won't get used much since I have to plug in my iPhone to charge anyway.

wireless cinema display? plug a wireless transmitter into your computer's dvi port and the display will get the picture? only draw back would be no ports on the back of the display, unless they figure out how to do wirelessly transmission of firewire and usb?

I doubt that. It's a not a good idea when you start to think about it.

There was an Apple patent a while back regarding the ability to play any media on any device on a local network. Stream from a mac to your iPhone or from your iPhone to your AppleTV, etc. I think it also allowed for any device to act as a remote for any other: use your iPhone to control playback from your AppleTV or mac, etc. Anyone have a link to that? It seems like something logically related to this new slogan.

each transmitter would already be paired with the display from factory with no way of de-pairing them, so that way one computer can't control a lot of other displays.

I have similar plug-n-play wireless networking adapters. Not the fastest, but you simply plug them in and go. There is a transmitter and a receiver, which take the place of an Ethernet cable. They are paired in the factory with a unique encryption passcode, which is unalterable. No two pairs have the same passcode either.

I use it with my HD DVD player. It functions completely independently from my WiFi network.

Call out the instigators
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right

We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now

so the bottom half of the banners would show something that integrates stuff...but what...

I'm not really sure the banners are a reference to some Thunderclap Newman song. "There's something in the air" is just a common phrase.

i know...but it's all i got!

btw, i retract something from a previous post....i don't think steve will say how many iphones have been sold. he will reiterate, "we are on target to sell 10 million iphones by the end of 2008."

Rumors...

I think this time we have the worst rumors ever, only predictable products have done their way around the web, Apple should be proud of their top secret policy

I think the line simply refers to changes in general. We can be pretty sure that that there will be movie rentals added to iTunes and probably an update to AppleTV. Yet that's hardly enough for a MacWorld event.

I think Apple will move forward with adding multi-touch to the whole laptop lineup. Whether that just means the trackpad or to the whole screen remains to be seen. I'd love to see a 12" Macbook Touch but I'm not sure Jobs sees a big enough market for that yet. They already have a version of OS X that is multi-touch based with the iPhone/Touch so I don't think it would be too difficult to apply it to Leopard. In my opinion to make a truly revolutionary Macbook Touch would be to lose the keyboard and optical drive but again is there a big enough market for such a device...

MacWorld may be a bit underwhelming though if the biggest announcement is an ultra-thin Macbook and a new AppleTV.

The font is a bit odd. They've used Myriad Pro for a long time. They've never used Myriad light for anything. I would expect Helvetica Neue before Myriad light.

The edges looks sharp more because of the wrinkles in the banner. I think the light font is meant to be "airy."

IDK, I'm in the same boat as Nexus. It normally has a more built-up look, like in the "Welcome to 2007" banners last year.

Just went to the local store that sells Apple products
They don't have any Mac minis left, they will receive new ones in 3 weeks (New CPU, GPU, more Memory)
Was told that the 17" Macbook Pro will be completely redesigned very soon

Best Regards

Who told you that ?

I thought it's Apple's (and the Apple Store's) policy to not comment on unreleased products ?

The technician or seller at the store where Apple products are sold.
In case the Mac mini is dropped I wanted to have the last model, I hope it stays on the market with what ever specifications it has, not matter if the GPU is a Trident

You guys come up with the worst predictions. Thunderclap Newman songs, jagged wrinkled banners, wireless electricity, and wireless cinema displays will have nothing to do with what is released. Seriously, Apple is trying to sell products with mass appeal, not to nerds who want to unplug their display and move it 10 feet over, or people who want to be able to sync their iPods from the toilet.

It's a good thing they don't let Apple fans make product decisions, otherwise Apple would make the most pointless stuff.

The only thing that would excite me would be a sub $2000 Mac Pro, otherwise...meh.
