Hi guys

I am new here and desperate for some advice.

Part of my headphone jack has broken off inside the port and remains in there.

Is this going to be a costly new motherboard job or can this be simply repaired??

Any advice really appreciated.

Many thanks.

Well... there is a specific I/O board on that side, so you wont need to replace all the logic board!

Maybe try and get it out with a thin object and some super glue... risky tho!

Thanks for the response, really appreciated.

I had thought about the super glue option but thought it a tad risky!!

What sort of cost do you think I am looking at?

Try to get it out first, it can't get worse(famous last words, I know).

We used a Q-Tip with the tip removed and a dot of superglue to get one out just last week.

Not all machines have an I/O board, in fact those machines are the minority.

you have nothing to lose by trying the dot of superglue trick.

you can also use a usb audio interface. I've used a griffin iMic for years to audio-out to an a/v board (seems to give clearer audio) though I've never used it for earphones.
