Hi,
I use coda music's printmusic 2000 software and a MIDI keyboard for input. The keyboard has built in MIDI, but very limited. (Piano, epiano, strings, and a couple others). Printmusic works very will except that I need a metronome sound. Seeing how I use a keyboard as the MIDI device and there is no "click" sound (which would be ideal) I need a way to generate such a sound and have it patch back into the MIDI keyboard, I think. Anyway, if you know what I'm talking about I'd appreciate some advice. I know that there are MIDI sound devices for sale, but how about a MIDI audio PCI card or something?
Any ideas? (Novice with MIDI - that's me)
Thanks

In the notation software, there should be a "metronome..." or "metronome settings" where you can specify a sound and note for metronome. select a drum kit (usually #10) and a woodblock sound (E5) and a different pitch for downbeats (I use C6-woodblock high) . If your notation software doesnt let you do this, there should be an option for "internal click" metronome- a sound from your Mac. Good luck

The problem seems to be when I configure the notation software to use a MIDI keyboard for input and automatic notation. It uses a sound from the MIDI device rather than any built in metronome in the application. Since my MIDI keyboard is very limited in sound sources (no metronome) I'm stuck with selecting something that it can generate, pitch and all. If there is a workaround, I can't find it and codamusic support tells me that I'm stuck. So, I think that I need a MIDI sound generating device that I can patch my keyboard to and then back, and finally to my Mac. I guess?
BTW, Soundblaster is entering the Mac market (nothing yet for sale) with their Soundblaster Platinum Live card which supposedly supports all sorts of MIDI stuff. Perhaps this would do it and be cheaper than a MIDI device. The PC version bundles a lot of software, including Cakewalk, but no word yet on what may be bundled on the Mac side. PC version is a $200 card. I have no idea if this represents a good value. Any comments?
