I am working on my 4th iteration of trying to get the Apple Remote application working. I run the setup and iTunes is able to see my iphone. I enter the code generated by the phone to link the devices and the library is added to the list on my phone. I then try to connect and after about 4 minutes of spinning, the phone will tell me that an error has occured. I have tried this in many difference configurations.

iMac (wired), iphone
iMac (wired , iPod Touch
Mac Book (wireless), iphone
Mac Book (wireless), ipod touch

Does this thing have a secret set up I cant find?

iTunes->Preferences->Devices->Look for iPhone and iPod Touch Remotes

Is this checked?

I found this thread after having the same trouble. Didn't see frdmfghtr's answer. Fixed the problem for myself, then reread above and realized it was right in front of me. Must be a default setting to have that box unchecked?
