I had something similar happen to me and eventually I talked to the RIGHT person whoc couldn't believe my experience and straightened everything out immediately. Some people are good. Some are not so good.

That is just bizarre. I don't know what else to say.

Er…I mean…I predict that SWG is having a bad time with Apple customer support right now.

Awesome Apple customer service experience that I am going through.

So my MacBook is 1 year old tomorrow so I want to order Applecare for it with my educators discount.

Go to http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...s/canadastore/ which is the canadian online Applestore. Fine. Hit the Education store link on the right... takes me to another page, on there I hit shop and for whatever reason it takes me to this link which hasn't worked for at least the past 6 hours:

http://canadaapp.apple.com/cgi-bin/W...tionStores.woa

Ok, I guess I have to CALL and do it in person. So once again hit http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...s/canadastore/ and right there on the top left is this number:

Ok so that MUST be the right number for Canadians to call right?

So I get ahold of someone, she is aware that I am calling from Canada and takes my info but not the serial of the MacBook (which I thought they would have on file with my name anyway so don't bother). Anyway, she puts the order through, charges my card and then tells me I need to call Apple Canada and give them my web order number to confirm that everything is ok. Well that is sorta strange but I'm cool with doing it. She is kind enough to "Transfer" me but also gives me the number of 1.800.272.2273 in case I get disconnected. After the transfer a typical switchboard voice comes up saying to push 1 for English and as I do some mans voice in the recording says something in Arabic. HUH? I listen to the recording further which is in english again and it is about conducting a survey to file a claim against a company yadda yadda. I hang up.

I look up Apple Canada's number by hand and find a totally different number. I call them and tell them that I need to confirm the oder with my web number etc. The person on the other line tells me that I shouldn't have ordered it over that number I called (and listed on the top of the Apple Canada Store) because that is "A US WEB STORE" and I will have to wait 4-6 weeks to get the Applecare box and then I have to Fax Apple Canada my receipt to tie them together and if I have a problem with the Mac before I get it I am out of luck. She said to call the US store right back and cancel and call the "proper" canadian number.

Fine.

Call that same lady in the US again, tell her the story and she said she will transfer me to the right department to cancel it.

This is the good part. After the transfer hold music comes up for 2 minutes and after that a recording of a goofy guys voice comes on saying "Welcome to the REJECTION HOTLINE. Whoever gave you this number obviously doesn't want to talk to you because you have bad breath, you are no fun etc etc."

What... the .... hell?

Once again I call that lady back and tell her and she is like "on sorry, I must have punched in the wrong extension". I'll transfer you again.

FINALLY I get ahold of someone real and say I want to cancel the order from 10 MINUTES AGO. He said my oder has already been processed and it waiting to ship so they can't cancel it but I can return it when I get it in weeks. Until then that $250 bucks has to sit on my credit card.

So now I am talking to a Manager who said 5 minutes after I placed the order it is on the end of an assembly line with my name on it waiting to go and they can't stop it. Pretty good service for Sunday end of day and I tell him I wish Apple was that quick with anything else I order as it usually takes days before things typically ships.

Anyway, he has me on hold for 15 min now as he is trying to contact Applecare to find out what we can do about this.

What a great way to spend the past hour SO FAR.

Apple just surprised the hell out of me by giving me a $1701 refund for my 3yr 7mo old G5. I had the logic board go out for the 3rd time and the computer had a history of other multiple repairs. When I went to complain about the cost of the repair they offered to fix it for free ( 7mos out of AppleCare ) or to upgrade me to a Mac Pro for the $854 cost that the logic board repair would have been. I didn't even have time to get upset before the offer, I was taken off guard.

so at the end of all this they told me just to wait the weeks for the one to come from the US and I will still have to email or fax in my receipt to confirm the serial and hopefully everything is in order.

Again, fun way to spend an hour and a half on a Sunday. Thanks Apple.

vBulletin’s timestamps are getting fubar’ed again, delaying all posts made in certain intervals by an hour. Means that carrying on conversations can get quite schizophrenic.

Heh. It's a Star Trek joke. Refer to the Enterprise's registry number.
