I work at small video editing company. In total we have 6 Macs running OS X.3.5. I'm looking for a way to share a central contacts list to all our Address Books. Is this possible to do cheaply and easily w/o OS X Server? If so, how?
Thanks,

To do it the OS X Server way, you need an LDAP server. OpenLDAP is available through fink. You would still need to set it up and populate the entries. This feature doesn't even work by default with 10.3 Server. You would still have to go in and set it up by hand once the users have been configured. It's possible to do it without buying any software, but you will probably need a true bergeek to get it working.
Or, if you have an MS Windows Exchange Server, that can be used.
You could also go with .Mac and set each machine up with iSync.

Thanks for the reply. Doing the Fink thing sounds to much of a pain for our purpuse. We're doing the iSync thing right now, but it's a tad awkward. Also, it changes the "Me" contact with every sync, making Rendezvous iChat confusing.
I'm hoping that with Tiger we'll be able to use the Address Book sharing on our simple print server. Until then, we'll just hobble along with iSync.

What about iSparx. I never used it but it looks like it does what you need.

Thanks for the link. I'm checking that out. Might work for us.
