Same Mac (quite early in the thread), but new desk and reorganizing. My cable mess is HUGE though... a closeup could be in place, but I leave you with this 6x3 sockets on the floor and an additional 4x2 sockets moounted underneat the table. All ending up in one socket in the wall. Ouch.

Also on floor: Epson 750 printer, JBL Creature sub, EyeTV USB, 2 USB hubs, various chargers/adapters.

On desk: iMac 800 MHz, 12" PowerBook 1GHz, iMac 266 MHz, 2 logitech mice, Apple Pro mouse, T68i phone, Canon scanner, JBL Creature satellites, Alcatel DSL modem, 3com wifi router, iSight. Behind PowerBook screen: Apacer memory card reader, Apacer pocket drive dock.

I know this seems kinda Martha Stewart-y, but to clean up my cable mess (very small built-in from the turn of the century), I've purchased a wire basket (available at home organization places, or Home Depot), with mounts, and screwed them under the table or on the wall. Just pack those cables (or nicely wind them prior) in the basket and voil... a tidy floor.

I don't remember who asked about the T610 or T616, but it's one of the only Bluetooth phones out there.

I work for an indirect cell phone place and it's either the T610/T616, Nokia 3650 (out of production, though), or Motorola V600 (still quite a bit of cash). There are others, like a Siemens and a couple more Nokias, but you do see a lot of Sony Ericcson phones for people with PBs (they do match, after all!).

I have the Nokia 3650, myself, and it's more of a pain to Bluetooth than the T610.

Here is a pic of our set-up, at least my half of the desk I share with my wife, her Pismo is in the shot though. I just got a new Macmice iBreeze stand for my TiBook, and I have to say, it's making a huge difference in not making the secondary fan come on. It has two 60mm fans (I think they are 60mm) built into the base , and a USB hub (it's USB powered as well). Pretty choice stand for $30.
Have a good one everybody!

Our set-up

Cheers,

Yeah,me too. She wanted a 700 or 800 iBook, but I said, you'll LOVE the Pismo. So she relented, and said find her one. I just got it for her this weekend off a real nice guy who had babied it. Not a mark on it... he used an external kbd and mouse when he had it. He just put in a new 20 gig HD, and a new battery too. She even gets better Airport range than me and my TiBook. (no surprise I guess)

Something about that black case, it just looks and feels so svelte. So pro.

Apple really does it right. Again and again.

i wonder how apple will top the aluminum line next ...

how did it get the name pismo (i'm a newbie switcher)

do u like the titanium or aluminum laptops?

i think aluminum looks better .. but hearing about corroding palm rest n easy to warp/dent .. i dunno.. i like the idea of titanium but not of the paint and hinges ..

nice colour!!...What company does that again??

I was wondering about getting my PB painted but then that would mean huge costs as not only would i have to pay for it but also have to ship it to the states and back!

Will post my set up soon along with all my Macs (8 in total) with iPods (2 of) and maybe my mates TiBook and iPod just so we can have a mac fest.

Theres no way of posting pictures unless there hosted by someone is there? Im gonna put them up on my site but need to finish my exams first so i have some free time!!!

Cool pics everyone, cool thread for that matter!!!

a very important reminder for you all that would like to get the colorware.
you'll void your apple warranty (be it the 1st year warranty or applecare), but colorware give a 1year warranty in replace. Apple doesnt regconised the custome painted PB, but im not sure about iPod and other Macs. Its better to get in touch with the colourware ppl, the respone fast.

Spent so much money, but you still have wired ethernet? Hideous! Get Airport! An Airport Express would get rid of your Speaker cable AND ethernet cable.

Seriously, though... looks good-- congrats.

Your MS Mouse--- the bluetooth one? I don't see any USB base station hanging off (then again, I don't see your mouse either).

The Blue Powerbook made from Colorware is the best Powerbook set up ever on this forum. Congrats to PowerMacman for your bravery. I didn't have the guts to spend the money not knowing what it would look like but that looks fantastic. More pics if you have any such as the underside, topside, the box it came in and so forth.

I actually do have Airport (Snow base station) but it's getting HORRIBLE signal... 1 or 2 bars at most, most of the time nothing...

I'm gonna buy an Airport Express when it comes out so I can have 2 base stations in the house so I can get coverage everywhere. This also forces me to upgrade my stereo because my old one is about to die, I'm waiting on the day I smell burning circuit board coming from it.

And the Microsoft mouse is wireless with a USB base, I didn't have it connected when I took the photo.

Can anyone here help me find a good lookin L shaped desk. At first, I really liked the glass L one that everyone has, but since my parents are willing to pay for it, they don't want a glass one. Anyone seen any good wooden ones, with a sleek look to go along w/ the powerbook, to accomadate a PB and a PC? Around sub 200$? thanks

RevA 12" Powerbook

Just bought it from the University store.

I've already added a stick 512MB of Ram and I've ordered a 5400RPM 8MB cache samsung hard drive to replace the stock one.

And the winner is????????? Wei for the best Aluminum book on MacNN. Just gotta give applause once again. That's a beautiful machine. The Colorware websight makes them look like a toy because the pics are computer generated painted AluBooks.
The real thing is definitely worth it if money is no object and of course an open mind is necessary.

thanks guy for the replies. yeah i love it very much (although its already 9 months old). the paint doesnt get scratch easily, its like the iBook plastic with a touch of metallic finish. How do it expalin it, at certain exyend, its like the car paint. they did a good paint job, the PCMICA card slot cover, the speaker holes, exhaust holes, and the battery are all taken care off...

give me a few day i'll post some larger close-up pix of the full view (front, side, rear... what ever you guys wan to see)...

At it's lowest setting, it makes the same amount of noise as the fan in the powerbook does, so whenever I work in xcode I turn it on and the temps stay low and the powerbook's fan doesn't come on.

It also acts as a USB hub so I can leave my mouse and printer plugged in the back of the coolpad and I only have one USB cable to unplug when I want to take the powerbookk with me.

Looks nice !
Does it make as much noise as when both internal fans are on ? Cause that is noisy, or is it like when only one fan is one ?

At it's lowest settings it's about as loud as when one of the powerbooks fan is on. I'm going to try to mod the coolpad to reduce the fan speed even more.
