I installed pine on my OS X machine recently, and am having trouble setting up the configuration. More specifcally, I'm having trouble getting pine to send mail. I'd like to use sendmail instead of an smtp server, if possible.

I followed the directions given here, ignoring steps 10-12 (they're redundant). I tried the suggested steps to use sendmail listed at the bottom of this page, but they haven't seemed to work. I think I need a specific value for the "smtp-server" field in Pine's Config page, but I've tried several logical values and none of them have worked: /usr/sbin/sendmail; sendmail; /sbin/sendmail; empty value. I keep getting an "Invalid host specifier" error when I try to send test messages.

Could someone out there with a bit more experience give me a hand?

Just a bit more info to consider:

When I set the "smtp-server" value to <Empty Value> and try to send a message, this is the error it returns:

>SMTP greeting failure: 451 4.0.0 /etc/mail/sendmail.cf: line 81: fileclass: ca<

I've done a quick scan of my sendmail.cf file, but I'm afraid I'm too inexperienced to be able to locate immediately the source of the problem.
