anyone configure this external print server from a Mac running OS X 10.5? It obtains a default IP when first connected to network (IP = 192.0.0.192). Instructions say to log into the web based admin component by going to that IP via any web browser. On my corp network all I get is a time out, page cannot be loaded error. Can I connect to it by hooking it up to a Ethernet hub and then the Mac to the same hub?

37 views and no solution? WOW!
BTW, I contacted HP and the rep who called me claimed no knowledge of the Mac so it appears the case was dropped no further responses from them, nice job.

created new temporary location for the Ethernet connection, set the new local IP to 192.0.0.193, was then able to connect to the default DHCP supplied IP on the print server and set its IP to one appropriate for the local network.

I've just stumbled over this post, and I think it's obvious that the problem was that your corporate network didn't give your computer an IP compatible with the Jet Direct card. The advice in this issue would have been to do what you did, and temporarily set your computer's IP to something in the same range as the card.

actually, I'm using static IP not DHCP. What is curious is that the instructions for setting up the print server from HP make no mention of needing to do this on a corporate network, they simple tell you to print the configuration page, note the IP and go to it with a browser to admin the print server.
