can i run the updates without wiping my drive?
want to keep documents, photos, work...but need to get my system to 9.2.

any risks? does this work??

Of course you can run classic Mac OS updates without clean installing or reformatting your drive. No classic Mac OS upgrade ever required the user to clean install or wipe the drive. Certainly it's a good idea to have a back-up of your data, but I've never heard of any data corruption or data loss through the upgrade process on the Mac OS or Mac OS X.
