I have a 12" powerbook 1.33 ghz rev C. I'm looking to upgrade my memory with 512 chip but don't feel like spending 200+ dollars for Mac's chip. Looking at aftermarket chips but after reading the article I don't know what to think. The article is old but I was wondering if its still appicable. Has the aftermarket chip industry changed? Will my computer drain more battery life? Will the computer crash more? what are "stacked chips" anyway? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and here's the link for the article.

Cheers!

Get it from a reputable dealer and all will be well. Try Newegg or Crucial.

I know what you mean. It's hard to make heads or tails of all the RAM that is out there. I just picked up a 512 stick from boundless technologies. I thought it might work because:
1. It is non-stacked (this is first thing to look for...)
2. Backed by a warantee of some kind
I haven't installed it yet, though....

I personally buy the cheapest RAM I can find. You see, nearly all chips are made by a just a few companies. It costs $Billions to build a fab.

Let's not overlook OWC. I've ordered all of my RAM from them without a hitch. Great warranty and service.
