After using modem, then for few years using 8 Mbps ADSL I had to move to a place with fewer options for broadband access.

Right now I am using 56kpbs modem; but I can install ADSL, not as fast as 8 mbps but still

256 kbps or 32 KB
512 kbps (0.5 Mpbs) or 64KB
and faster, but they are not cheap.

I am thinking about 256 Kbps ADSL. Have anyone of you used such speed? How it fares compared to modem or faster ADSL? Welcoming any experience.

Is the 256- and 512 Kb/s service from the same company? If so, you probably won't notice a difference in normal page loads. I have Bell Sympatico, and all they do it cap your maximum speed for the different speeds. I didn't notice a difference in everyday browsing when we went from 1 Mbit service to 3 Mbit. Just faster downloads.
How important is fast downloads to you? That could be the deciding factor.

faster downloads are very important for my business. I am gonna open DTP outsourcing and you know how big are recent DTP files with all graphics and so on.
