it's when a forum gets too popular when it starts to attract stupids. stupids only find mainstream forums and mess them up with insults and oneliners that don't get past OMG WTF

i'm sorry but i think we just have to deal with it

I've been informed I have "enemies" within the mod squad. That's why I personally don't make much effort around here these days - this is enemy territory.

Kinda sad after years of contributing to find that out.

After spending many years here I don't see why anyone has enemies here. Some people are asses, but I think most come here to have fun and relax.

Times have changed a bit, but I still keep coming back and I don't intend to stop because of a few peoples' bickering with the mods.

When did people start taking the internet so seriously anyway? We really need some more carly patterson pics to lighten things up. Even those lol catz would be welcome.

The person who informed me is someone who knows.

As for what they can do to me - well they can just "moderate" the stuffing out of me. The last person to needlessly attack me here was defended by two mods and just made a moderator himself. Seems I'm very much on the outside here. I dunno... maybe it's my fault, but I don't have these problems elsewhere on the internet and there was a time when I didn't have them here. I don't think I've changed.

Most of the popular members from this Lounge started their own forum a few years ago - that's where the fun (and the friendliness) is. That's why this place is a shadow of its former self.

Somewhere between then and now, at least four things happened:

1. Twelve year olds raised on pre-web net protocols became extinct.
2. The iPod was enormously successful.
3. UBB chronic search index pain was replaced with vBulletin AJAX, and Mac OS X and the MacNN Forums lost their pinstripes.
4. Some country joined the European Union. Probably. Or was it China's space program? MySpace? Something like that.

Nostalgia has no place in a discussion about why the past r0xed. We need "Real Facts". Did you guys hear the announcement from CES that someone is getting a personal trainer? DBGFHRGL

Glory. Not Glamour. Dress the cat up in Roman armor and snap a picture of him kicking someone into a bottomless pit. That's glory.

I don't know, I've always found you a rather likable chap even though I rarely if ever agree with your point of view. I've found that life is rather boring if you only like people who hold the same views as yourself. You're okay (for an Aussie )

There's a little life raft drifting in the ocean that retains a rag-tag group of survivors. It's just a Zodiac, really; LE was a cheap $%#!.

I had to look that up. I guess I don't have the prerequisites for a degree in Venture. Your post was both rude and unnecessary. If we were to get into some of the things I'm interested in, I think you'd find yourself asking a lot of questions too. Not being "up" on everyone else's interests is just that. Don't go judging others by whether they are familiar with all the animated shows you are-you could find yourself in a trivia contest and lose.

ghporter, I think you're overreacting.

But you're hitting one point that does exemplify what's happened to this place (and this thread, to a degree):

It's just not *fun* anymore.

In every sense.
