Horrid Smelling Plastic/Rubber

I've got a tiny tripod, which I like, except it's got the most vile outgas funk going on. It's improved since I've bought it, but it's still bad enough that if I want to take it with me, I have to put it in a freezer bag so it won't stink up my bag and everything in it.
Anyone have a clever idea on how to accelerate the smell fading?

Store it outside for a while. Many flexible polymers outgas for quite a while after being manufactured, particularly if they were all wrapped up in something that kept the gas from dissipating. It'll get better with a little time and plenty of air circulation.

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Yeah, I forgot that part. Most of the smelliest polymers are not too happy with sunlight-it either bakes out all the volatile chemicals (which make the material flexible) or breaks it down entirely.

Okay. More bright ideas, or materials science knowledge, needed. We just hit fall for reals, so it won't get over 60 (16 to the fur'ners) for about five months.
What's going to be my low end temp?
