I recently had an issue with my Jaguar (10.2.4) install on my Powermac which I attempted to remedy with a clean install of 10.2. I booted from the 10.2 install CD (I have created a full-install disc from the Jaguar update CDs fyi) and initialized and then reinstalled 10.2. This was the original OS installation technique used on this machine and it worked just fine, well, for the first few months I suppose
. Anyway, after the install I get a kernel panic ("You need to restart your computer...") and am unable to get past this. The machine will no longer allow me to boot from a CD while the hard drive is connected, as it just boots in 10.2. I also tried booting into system 9 from a 9.1 disc, but now the machine doesn't want to do that. I have tried a few open firmware commands (reset-nvram, set-defaults, reset-all) but that did not seem to do anything. Is there a way I can "force" the computer to boot from the 9 disc? If anything, I would like to get a system of some sort on the machine. Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated!
