Apple sales literature says Li-Poly. I pop it out of my machine, it says Li-Ion... does anybody here have an MBP with with a Li-Poly battery? I'm curious and starting to wonder if this is the reason they were so delayed in shipping.

As for battery life, which on my machine is absolutely abysmal - hour less than my G4 with an 18 month old used battery - used in the same way, never more than a notch of screen brightness and usually Airport and/or Bluetooth is disabled according to whatever is in use at the time - bluetooth being in use very often in my configurations. I could see how people might be getting such wildly different battery success/fail stories if Apple had shipped two different types of batteries into the wild based on availability... but I don't want to get too ahead of myself.

Could you guys with MBPs pop your batteries out and tell me what it says? Li-Ion or Li-Poly?

Li-Ion, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
MacBook Pro 15" -- 2.2Ghz, 4GB, 200GB 7200rpm
iPod Nano 2G -- 8GB

Mine is Li-Ion. What a downer! My battery life sucks too. I might want to go to the Apple Store and bitch that I'm only getting 5000mAh tops.

Since Li-Poly is just a development of Li-Ion... I guess it's more "marchitecture" than an industry term.

Yep, Lithium-Polymer is just a [now common] variety of Li-Ion battery.

So in other words, Apple is playing semantics? Oh.
