You can still submit entries to Challenge 1 if ya want. But this topic is a little more fun. Create an image that is hypnotizing, dizzying, and generally nausea inducing.
Hypnotize Me
I had fun with filters. That's all I can say.

Materials Used: Photoshop (almost entirely filters)
Type of Piece: Brain freakout

I'm game... I was going to try Challenge 1, but didn't have the time. Now I'm bored as hell, so....
I threw this together in about 15 minutes using Photoshop's filters and Eye Candy 4000, which rocks BTW.
I't would be pretty cool to use After Effects to animate this with some spacey music, don't you think. I might do this if I have time...

it's like a water ripple portal. not too shabby.
i was never a huge fan of the old eye candy, but the new version seems to be a bit better.
animation = time consuming. i could probably do mine as well in AE, but i fear it would take awhile to get right, and i might lose my mind to the purty colors and spiraling madness.

Cipher, your signature seems hypnotizing enough to add to this thread.
this one is an old op-art piece by Riley Bridget, long before PS.

I'm afraid not, wish it was..

Believe it or not, there is no spiral in this picture, just circles:

Good one sunseeker, can you add some sound?
Maybe you can tell me, I can't seem to get a flash movie showing in a browserframe without lots of white space around it, how is it done? I used DW4, made a site for this small clip and put it on my mac-home page.

wow, we've had some pretty impressive entries.
enough to, dare i say, take over the world!?
l'ignorante, you specify the background color for the swf file? check out my home page source for how to embed a flash file. it shouldn't be any different in a frame, but i'm not positive on that one.

Sound, maybe. If I can find a little more time.
It wont be anything special though.
As for your question, if it was directed at me, I think demonhood is better qualified to answer.
edit:Here is the sound, it was supposed to loop. I wont fix it, you get the idea.

That's great! Also with Dogma's contribution it's getting really psychedelic here.

Sorry bout that e r i k. I was very impressed by your entry. And I'm not just saying that. The spiraling (almost explosion like) color reminds me of a spinning CD. Good stuff.
The next challenge will be posted tomorrow...err...today. Sunday in the US.

I also liked it a lot, I think it hypnotized me too much to respond, managed to break the spell and send you my compliments at last.

And now for the obligatory stereogram entry. Stare deep ... deep .... deep into this noise pattern. Even if you don't see the 3-D image encoded within, you will have strained your eyes hard enough that you probably shouldn't operate any heavy machinery for awhile.

It works best for me when I unfocus my eyes until I see three dots - not one or two.

Thanks for the kind comments guys (and girls?).
Here's what I used to make it:
Photoshop 6.0.1 (duh)
Flaming Pear SolarCell for "spinning CD effect"
Flaming Pear Glitterato with a zoom blur (background)
KPT 6 LensFlare
The eye from photoshop in multiple layers
Text with warping.
There's some hidden messages in this picture, one of which says "Redesign MacNN". Obviously it must have worked
